Technical foul on the first lady!
A spokeswoman for Jill Biden walked back her public invitation Tuesday for the University of Iowa women’s basketball team to visit the White House following their NCAA championship loss to LSU — after Tigers star Angel Reese called the feel-good move a “joke.”
“I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House; we always do,” Jill Biden, 71, told an audience in Denver Monday, one day after watching LSU beat Iowa 102-85 for the title in Dallas.
“So, we hope LSU will come, but, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come too, because they played such a good game,” the first lady went on.
While championship-winning teams have been regular guests at the White House since at least the Reagan administration, runners-up have gotten no such consideration.

Ugly game and LSU showed no class.
But they were the winner and get the White House dinner. Iowa doesn’t need to go.

Just imagine how the media would have portrayed this if Trump had suggested inviting the losing team, with a WHITE star player, as well as the winning team made up of black players.
I’m not a sports fan per se, so I didn’t really get into this. It sounds like Jill just talked herself into a corner trying to make everybody feel good about the game, both winners and losers. I sounds like one of the team coaches hear that ‘Happy-Happy Everybody Wins!!” invite and said;
“This is a joke!”.
Someone on Jill’s staff must have sat her down an said ‘Mrs. Biden, you over-talked and you blew it.
A Team only comes to the White House to celebrate their
WINNING with the President. But you inviting both parties, thus, removing what was special about the visit.
Now, do you you get it, Mrs. Biden? Now do you see how you screwed up this very simple circumstance? You had one job...”
Look, if she said it, they should go through with it. This is why you consider what you say before you speak.

Winners and Champions go to the White House, 2nd place finishers stay home, this isn’t little league where everyone gets a trophy, LSU cut down the nets and deserves to go, Iowa lost and should stay home.

This really should not be difficult to understand for anyone arguing the opposite, I don’t it’s ever happened before that 2nd place team went to the White House along with the Champion.
Like I said, this isn’t little league where everyone gets a trophy, which I also disagree with, losing hurts but it teaches a great many life lessons, kids need to experience it.
Just give them all juice boxes, a participation ribbon and send them on their way.
I guess this means the Aztecs won’t be invited either.
Teach our kids that sportsmanship means winning is everything….right.
Issue an invite, then walk it back when a brat whines ( she has a record of unsportsmanlike behavior)

Someone should invite them to lunch, the AD and President of Iowa and congratulate them on a great season, the White House is for champions not 2nd place finishers.
Plenty of teams have won championships that were less than true sportsmen, the Miami Hurricanes in football back when they were dominate for example.
Sports is full of trash talking, it’s part of the game and has been going on for longer than anyone in that game has been alive. You can go all the way back to Joe Namath guaranteeing a win the Super Bowl, that was unheard of at the time.
