Romney calls replacing car lanes with bike lanes ‘the height of stupidity’

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said federal efforts to encourage replacing car lanes with bike lanes is “the height of stupidity,” as well as joining other GOP lawmakers in expressing skepticism over proposals to incentivize e-bike purchases.

“I’m not going to spend money on buying e-bikes for people like me who have bought them — they’re expensive,” Romney told Insider in an interview. “Removing automobile lanes to put in bike lanes is, in my opinion, the height of stupidity, it means more cars backing up, creating more emissions.”

Romney’s comment comes after Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) introduced the Sarah Debbink Langenkamp Active Transportation Safety Act last month, which would support state and local government efforts to build safer, more complete networks for bicycling and walking.

The legislation — named after a U.S. diplomat who died last August after being struck by a flatbed truck driver — will unlock Highway Safety Improvement Program funding for projects that connect two pieces of safe cycling infrastructure and allow other bicyclist and pedestrian safety projects to be fully federally funded.

The country is imploding and what’s keeping Romney up at night? Bike lanes. Can’t stomach this nauseating arrogant jerk.

You have no protection.

The government will mandate seat belts for bicycles. Then air bags. Electronic radar to sense cars. Warning beepers. ABS brakes. For bikes. Yes, there is more stupidity that can happen with government interference in our lives.

City planners envision Copenhagen and pretend America’s infrastructure wasnt already built around the cars we all drive. Based on UN guidelines, of course. I cant tell you how many of New Haven’s failed city bikes ended up in the sound. But they’re all gone. And every half baked dchemd costs us regular folks. So yeah, Mitt’s right.

Caution!

How will these supposedly elected, and appointed bureaucrats, making decisions with your money, life and property get to places like Davos to discuss these grave global threats like future pandemics, climate change, over population, and whatever other undeniable truths threaten humanity today?

You need to calm down and realize that our leaders are already making huge sacrifices and making due with a lot less than their civilian counterparts. Bill Gates has a fleet of four jets, John Kerry (UN climate envoy that does not like flying commercial) only one.

https://simpleflying.com/bill-gates-private-jet-collection/ (Bill Gates, college drop out, and expert on everything from ethics, genetics, vaccines, economics to the power grid, climate change and world population needs these jets to fly to Australia to give advice about the climate and CO2)

Besides things have come a far way! The bourgeoisie liberals and government officials have made a lot of progress in the last years by ensuring their planes are hidden from public sight and requesting the media not report about it (which they of course do) when they land in Davos, Scotland, etc.

The legislation — named after a [a person with a semi-relevant sob story]

And that's one way of knowing that a piece of legislation is worthless garbage.

Where I live, we’re also plagued with this madness. Killing important and functional traffic lanes to put in bike lanes. Bike lanes that are never used!

Some New York highrises have BANNED e-bikes and e-scooters from their buildings, due to....yes, you guessed it.....battery fires.

Perhaps during the next Ice Age we can use these fire-happy batteries to keep warm. I understand that once these batteries start burning, they are difficult to put out. Now there is ‘sustainablilty’ for you. A sustained fire, heat for hours and hours (just don’t breath in the fumes).
