Half of CDC Team Members That Investigated East Palestine Train Derailment Got Mystery Illness

Team members from the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service found it suspicious that "they became ill at the same time and with the same symptoms."

The East Palestine, Ohio community impacted by a chemical spill in the wake of a Norfolk Southern train derailment on February 3 has been reassured countless times by authorities that the air and water in the area is "safe."

But a new report that the investigative team deployed by the Centers from Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to survey the scene suggests that there may be lingering ecological damage near the train derailment site.

According to the CDC, nearly half of the investigators became sick while researching the possible health impacts of the toxic chemical spill. Seven of the fifteen team members that conducted house-to-house surveys became ill and displayed symptoms that included sore throats, mild headaches, coughing and nausea.

An official familiar with the cases told CNN the team, some of whom work for the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service, found it suspicious that "they became ill at the same time and with the same symptoms."

The CDC added that team members resumed data collection within 24 hours, and “impacted team members have not reported ongoing health effects.”

“Symptoms resolved for most team members later the same afternoon, and everyone resumed work on survey data collection within 24 hours,” a CDC rep said in a statement to CNN.

As CBS News reported, "the illnesses are coming to light after repeated assurances by government officials and representatives from Norfolk Southern, the company that operated the train, that the air and drinking water in East Palestine is not hazardous to health."

CDC, in an overly broad assessment, can be divided into two groups: management, and those either in EIS or have been in EIS. Management, as in many government organizations, are often political or have political ties. They speak in acronyms and buzz words and hold meetings that disrupt production. Those in EIS are the grunts. They generally have a two year contract for which they have taken a drastic pay cut from their private sector job in order to try and make a difference. They are sent into the worst possible situations both here and around the world. Some will eventually make it into management and provide some light. In looking at CDC, we should distinguish between the organization in general and those either in the EIS or who have been in it. The latter are true public servants who are the best of the best in government.

Reminiscent of a bad trip to Chipotle some years back. Opened things up at both ends for 12 hours.

there was an outbreak of bell’s palsey at a hospital near me

maybe 15 years ago, the cdc investigated but never did anything or publicized anything either. I only know cause I knew the guy who owned the ER Corp.

the only reason this came out is to help secure money (bankrupt) the deep pocket railroad

The illness lasted 2 hours.

Why did only 50% get sick?? That doesn't make sense. Immunity doesn't work with chems

Fear porn.

FWIW the local Farm and Daily weekly reports that the testing for dioxins on farms affected by smoke from the burnoff came back NEGATIVE. Only background levels detected.

“That doesn’t make sense. Immunity doesn’t work with chems”

You’re assuming they all had the same job standing around the same patch of ground.

You know, like city workers pretending to fix a pothole.

What doesn’t make sense is that 2 hours later, they were all fine. Someone instigated this little “drama”.

Not really, but they do depend on which chemical, exposure dosage, and some people may be more or less sensitive to it.
