Apolitically motivated prosecution of a national party leader over years-old campaign finance violations. Protests in the streets leading to a political and constitutional crisis. Democracy undermined for a generation to come.
I am writing, of course, about the Indian constitutional crisis of 1975.
As Mark Twain once said, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes." On Thursday, radical leftist New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicted former President Donald Trump over purported minor business records and campaign finance violations relating to alleged hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels in 2016. If history is any guide, the course Bragg has chosen to take the country down is a perilous one—not for President Trump, but for American democracy.
In 1975, a court in Allahabad, India, convicted Indira Gandhi, then the prime minister of India and the leader of that country's largest political party, of what The Times of India described as the electoral law equivalent of a "traffic ticket." The principal allegations, which dated back to that country's election in 1971, were that Gandhi had a civil servant perform campaign tasks. Gandhi's supporters claimed that the civil servant had in fact tendered his resignation before beginning his work for her campaign, but the court found otherwise in issuing its judgment.

I’m betting the ranch on Bragg. The American right is feeble.
I look forward to hearing the specifics of the indictment, which still have not been publicly disclosed.
And then, we can all look forward to the media putting their spin on things. I’m sure the MSNBC crowd will tell us all that this Stormy Daniels situation is a crime against humanity.
We also need to know what Trump’s attorneys will do. There can be motions made for a change of venue, for an actual dismissal of the charges, a motion to reconsider the charges as a misdemeanor rather than a felony, among other legal issues which can be raised. And all of those legal issues would have to be sorted out before you can even start to think about an actual trial.
Me too. They’ll find a way to nail Trump to the wall. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t spend the rest of his life in prison as an example made.
And I suspect the lions share of so called Republicans on capitol hill are just fine with all of this.
This.
Bragg is likely answering to someone else.
That first word — “Apolitically . . .” should be two words — “A politically . . .” This is anything but an “Apolitically motivated prosecution”!
“Bragg is likely answering to someone else”
obama, soros, Jarrett
And if you go all the way down, satan himself
When Newsweek is against Bragg, you know he is in trouble. The best thing the judge could do for Bragg is to dismiss all charges and be done with this farce.
If they thought Jan 6 wounded our Republic Bragg has driven a stake through its heart.
I was listening to Mark Levin for a short while this evening and he discussed ‘Democracy.’ He said, and I agree, that the word democracy has no specific meaning because it is used by every totalitarian dictator on the planet to describe their government. So let’s just stop using that deceptive term that dictators seize upon to confuse the world into believing their ‘democracy’ is a worthy governmental system.
They are in our face, telling us to stop them, if we can, while they sport big evil smirks upon their faces.
We can, but we must enlist the Lord's help. Otherwise, we won't.
“Bragg is likely answering to someone else.”
If Bragg campaigned on bringing down Trump, he’s endearing himself to his constituency by not backing down.
I can’t believe I’m the first one to say:
