McDonald's Corp temporarily closing U.S. offices . . . "to inform corporate employees about its layoffs as part of a broader company restructuring"
(Excerpt) Read more at reuters.com ...
The numbers must be just brutal for them to close before announcing them.
I suspect that part of the problem, is California, where the state leftists are forcing the creation of state-run, union-type management (”benefits” etc.) upon fast food restaurants.
That probably motivated McDonald’s to rethink how they want to run their establishments, given the state-imposed increases in operating costs.
Is reading comprehension, on FR, that horrible?
This is about corporate STAFF!

They’re already well-ahead in automating their stores. They may just go full-robotic in California if the government keeps this crap up - and only have 1 or 2 humans working at a store, at one time. For them...they are getting close to that.
Fewer white-collar workers, fewer blue-collar workers, more robots. Sounds like a business plan.
You know, this restaurant really needs an overhaul. They should go back to the basics and get rid of half their current menu. Start using beef tallow again and bring back the Styrofoam containers.
Obviously you fail to comprehend the relationship between store performance and the corporate staff level.
Anybody see how astronomically outrageous their prices have become?
Or Illinois, which just passed a new law effective next year that mandates paid time off (aka vacation time) for EVERY worker including minimum wage McDonalds workers. And btw, minimum wage is $15.40/hr in the hellhole known as Chicago for any employer with 21+ workers. That’s over $32K per year for a full time worker flipping burgers.
This is about corporate STAFF, who work in offices!
Rumor is they are fixing all of the shake machines....oh wait
McDonald's has 1,000s of people who work in their offices, world wide.
They are sticking a knife in the McRib, and then doing a liposuction.
I have noticed that McD’s lines are short, the prices way higher than inflation and help who barely speak English. Same at grocery stores also.
Big Macs are too d@m high....
Chris Christie and Stacey Abrams have gone to the hospital to receive treatment for clinical depression.
We don’t eat at MacDonalds anymore. Everything has a chemical taste now
IN-n-OUT has 25 cars in the drive thru all the time - they have people out taking orders 10 cars in advance.... they pay around $19 an hour. Same with the Chick - fillet next door.
MacDonalds needs an over haul... but I gotta say I enjoy the basic sausage MCmuffin with cheese for $$PRetty cheap..
And the Biden administration, along with the media, pretend that everything with our economy is doing great. Best. Economy. Ever.!
Even some here at FR are going to be surprised to find that this recession-back-to-prosperity cycle does not work as in the past. Everyone seems to expect everything to return to “normal”. However previously, we had experienced, knowledgeable, and competent people in charge who did the things necessary, based on long-known economic principles, to soften the blow from a recession and bring our economy back to a strong footing. Not this time. Every Biden handler and Cabinet member along with almost every government bureaucrat is working non-stop to destroy our nation. There is no longer a “normal” to return to.
When you have McDonald’s, Walmart, Star-bucks, and Cracker Barrel outlets, etc., along with numerous small “Mom&Pop” businesses closing nationwide, and even McDonald’s closing (temporarily) its corporate office and laying off employees, you have a economy in crisis.
Get ready to return to the era of 15% interests rates and gasoline rationing that we had in the late 70s, along with rationing of other consumer goods as well. People no longer pull themselves up by their boot-straps and make do while at the same time helping their neighbor as they did in the 70s. This time, it’s different.
