Trump’s Prosecution Has Set a Dangerous Precedent
NYTimes ^ | 04/01/2023

You were probably not alone if the news of Donald Trump’s indictment seemed slightly strange: How could something so big — the first criminal indictment of an American president — seem so small?

Mr. Trump was not indicted for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election or for engaging in egregious financial fraud to increase his wealth or even for allegedly obstructing the special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, which many once thought was the best avenue prosecutors had to ensnare the former president.

Instead, the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, and his team of prosecutors have brought the country back six and a half years, to the final weeks of the 2016 election, when Mr. Trump paid the adult film star Stormy Daniels to prevent her from going public with a story about an affair she said they had while Mr. Trump was married. (The details of what the indictment contains remain unknown — its contents will be unsealed after Mr. Trump turns himself in, most likely next week — but it is expected to charge the former president with falsifying business records of the payment, disguising the payoff as routine legal fees.)

Exactly right. If you are a (D) it means you are good to go. Everyone knows that. The Dems/Libs play to advance their agenda and win…and that they do. It will never be a fair fight between the thugs(D) vs. the rotary club(R). One reason is because most Repubs help Dems win.

Nice map.

We all have to admit that we have been outsmarted and are outnumbered.

The Republicans ignored way too many Attorneys General, District Attorney, Secretaries of State and other elections. Got to hand it to the evil bastards, they knew what to target to gain this level of control over the country.

Now we know, but know too late . . .

LOL! When I left my employment after 36 years I had to sign an NDA. My wife had to sign one when she left her employment as well so it’s no big deal. Never saw $130K though.

I have to agree with that poster. They are criminals, IMO for the drug cartels, and they destroy the law under the cover of the law.

Biden should have been impeached already just over the border.

Or if you (as it appears with the majority of CONgress folx) are in bed with the democommies. That is the reason they will never allow PDJT to win again. Or anyone from the “outside” that isn’t in their game. By any means necessary. ANY! Uniparty? Yup! Of course that could just be conspiracy theory me. 🤔

In Jan 2018, Biden admitted to committing a crime. He threatened to stop 1 billion in aid to Ukraine who was being confronted by Russia (when he was VP) if the Ukraine didn’t stop investigating his son.

Trump was president when this confession was made at the CFR meeting and below is Biden on video bragging and laughing about it. Neither trump nor his AG did anything about it that is discernible.

Hilary and obama ran a coup on Trump and nada. Trump called Hillary criminal for months during the campaign and yet, after 4 years, the criminal was walking around free.

I point this out to say, had he hired an AG who enforced the law against these criminals, he may not have been subject to the impeachments and investigations he is now tied up with because the dems would have known he was serious about their crimes. Politics would be very different today in the US if these coup leaders and Biden were in prison.

Now, when he is re-elected, everything will look like retaliation if he puts these criminals in prison.

They don’t seem to understand, or care, that a great many well equipped people will not take kindly to the persecution of our president.

Its only dangerous if the GOP grow a pair and play hardball. Except for a very few in the party, they’ve never shown the willingness to do as much.

Dims could not care less if a Dim politician is indicted and jailed. They want Trump’s head and any Dim that goes down is simply collateral damage.

Start the grand juries with Gun Running by Obama (we have a TX AG), Biden’s in Cartel Support (TX IG), Any city or state Biden flew in Illegals (illegally), Any city or state where Hunter used cocaines and transported prostitutes, Any city or state Bill Clinton is accused of sexual assault (long list), any city or state with a Dem associated with Eipstein, etc...

Indict a hundred ham sandwiches (in the form of Democrats).

However, we know the Republicans are nothing but gutless, spineless cowards and will do nothing.

Here is tne NY Slimes saying categorically that Trump paid Stormy Daniles money. He didn’t. Cohen did likely to cover up his own indiscretion. Daniels was a client of Cohen and he stole money from.

There’s another one here in Louisiana. Shreveport, which is in the 1st Judicial District and encompasses Caddo Parish. I was at a court hearing when he was a Court of Appeal judge. An absolute buffoon.

Money quote:

” (The details of what the indictment contains remain unknown — its contents will be unsealed after Mr. Trump turns himself in...”

Everyone COULD be right, but no one has read the indictment! It is SEALED!

Lets all wait and see WHAT he is actually is charged with.

“ Wrong. Cohen paid her with his own money and he was not reimbursed.”

To be accurate, Cohen paid with money from a HELOC. He was repaid in a series of payments labeled as “legal expenses”.

Which is pretty accurate.
