Today, the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus announced that United States District Judge Katherine Menendez has issued summary judgment immediately enjoining Minnesota’s prohibition on 18-20-year-old adults from obtaining a Permit to Carry in Minnesota and lawfully carrying a firearm for self-defense.
The opinion in Worth, et al v. Harrington (21-cv-1348) can be viewed on the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus website.
“Judgment is granted to Plaintiffs on the issue of whether MN Statute 624.714 violates the right of the individual Plaintiffs and the otherwise-qualified 18-20-year-old members of the MN Gun Owners Caucus, Second Amendment Foundation, and Firearms Policy Coalition to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.”
Judge Menendez’s decision enjoins Minnesota governmental entities from enforcing the previous 21-year minimum-age requirement for a Permit to Carry.
The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus is joined in this lawsuit by the Second Amendment Foundation, the Firearms Policy Coalition, and three individual plaintiffs.
“This is a resounding victory for 18-20-year-old adults who wish to exercise their constitutional right to bear arms, ” stated Bryan Strawser, Chair, Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus.
“This decision should serve as a warning to anti-gun politicians in Minnesota that the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus and its allies will not hesitate to take legal actions against unconstitutional infringements on the Second Amendment rights of Minnesotans, ” added Rob Doar, Senior Vice President & Political Director.
“The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus is joined in this lawsuit by the Second Amendment Foundation, the Firearms Policy Coalition, and three individual plaintiffs.”
Notice the NRA was not involved.
L
The NRA sucks. The GOC has been rock stars around here
This Ping List is for all news pertaining to infringes upon or victories for the 2nd Amendment.
FReepmail me if you want to be added to or deleted from this Ping List.
More 2nd Amendment related articles on FR's Bang List.
The NRA does a lot of good work.
But when it comes to litigation, most of what they’ve done is gum up the works then try to take credit for what others have done.
The NRA heavily supported Trump here in Florida during 2020 when basically nobody else was.
Bingo! And as just above, “The NRA does a lot of good work!”, and BINGO on that one too!
And that helps the 2nd amendment causes how?
This is very good news, and hopefully will set some case president as other states, like the People’s Republic of Connecticut, are all about banning anyone under the age of 21 from getting firearms.

NRA has squandered it’s fortune on litigation, consultants, exec perks etc. Go to GOA instead.
NRA Endowment member.
You preferred Biden in 2020?
WTF That is the most idiotic thing I read on FR today. But I guess it is easier that substantive thought or discussion, which you are apparently incapable of.
Congratulations!
Not nearly as “idiotic” as you suggesting the NRA supporting Trump in 2020 was not the proper play for 2A advocates.
At 18, I was in the Army, being trained to go to Vietnam and kill the bastard commies as my drill sergeants told us. At 19 I was in the jungles of South Vietnam, in the Central Highlands mountains. Heavy, thick jungles, where we had to chop through triple canopy jungle with a machete to get anywhere. One platoon would chop our way through and the other two plus the headquarters element sat on our butts while they chopped ahead. Then we would get up and move up behind them and sit down again. I simply could not understand the way we were doing this. Surely Charley heard us coming. Sounded like a 100-piece band marching through town. Yup, we were trained to kill at 18, 19 years old. Why the hell can a man, or woman, who is “an adult” in the eyes of the law for everything else, not be allowed to carry. Their too young? Maybe. Hell, I know some 36 year olds I wouldn’t trust with a pistol in their hands.
I’m a life member of the NRA. I support them.
BUT
It’s time for LaPierre to go.
Not out of the woods yet. Appeals, and then appeals. And then another stupid law, just as bad as the first, to take to court.
As am I. LaPierre (I have heard) has apparently been involved in too much questionable activity within NRA which squelches donations. I’d like to know the absolute truth instead of just a perception of PR reports.
