A California police union executive director allegedly ran a drug ring from her home and used her office computer and UPS account to order and distribute opioids and other drugs, federal officials charge.
Joanne Marian Segovia, who has worked for the San Jose Police Officers Association since 2003, was charged on Wednesday with attempting to unlawfully import a synthetic opioid called Valeryl fentanyl.
She faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison if convicted, authorities said.
Police union president Sean Pritchard was shocked by the charges, telling NBC Bay Area, “She’s been the grandma of the POA.”
“This is not the person we’ve known, the person who has worked with fallen officers’ families, organized fundraisers for officers’ kids — just not who we’ve known over a decade.”
According to the 13-page complaint, the 64-year-old allegedly received at least 61 packages at her San Jose home from various countries — including China, Canada and India — between October 2015 and January 2023.
The packages reportedly were marked as food supplements, wedding party favors, makeup, chocolates and other items to disguise the drugs, prosecutors said.

Hang her in the public square!
I think we are on a hot track… that will lead to something much bigger…we might actually have some good people left in Government who would like to save our Republic.
I’m reminded of a Breaking Bad episode where one of the “bad guys” had a day job as a parking lot attendant at a police agency. In that job he’d probably get to see undercover agents coming and going. I remember talking to an ITT vice president who was in favor of hiring Ex convicts over people who were not Ex convicts. She poopoo’d the government’s requirement that only certain people could get into our facility because it had government contracts requiring controlled access.
Agencies that deal with public safety, the police and companies that deal with anything sensitive should be very careful who they hire, even in floor washing type jobs. As for this woman, I’ll bet a simple pre-employment investigation would have raised some issues.
That was Mike Ehrmantraut in the series. He was a retired cop. A dirty retired cop, but a a retired cop nonetheless.
I have seen some YouTube clips, but not one single episode of anything that was on TV after I gave it up entirely during the OJ trial. But, if his character was a retired cop, yeah, I can see why they’d hire him.
Just like south of the border.
Murdering bitch.
later
It’s still California Jake
She was cutting on a higher political revenues or the local PD revenues. That’s my guess. No way the FedGov and state government would let the current open border drug mules run wild without it not lining someone’s or many pockets. More died of drugs over the last 3 years than really died of their precious COVID. Destroy freedom over covid but not inconvenience illegals for a real threat.
63 + 20 ==
Ugly IF she gets out.
“”otherwise a campaign donation to the Dims would make it go away””
Oh, my. The possible permutations for this one are endless. Her regular contribution of 10% for the Big Guy, she missed a few payments.
She could claim she was just trying to kill the pain caused by Republicans.
She could claim she is a one-person, investigative task force trying to determine the identity of the Big Guy. Unfortunately for her, the closest she could get is a basement in Delaware. All she can find in the basement are some toy blocks and a freezer full of ice-cream.
ALL drug dealers, from street hustler to kingpin, should be executed. After capture, tried, convicted, appealed, sentenced, and executed within one year.
Taking drugs is a CHOICE. Those who died killed themselves, culling the herd of some undesirables. But I still want all drug dealers executed.
My point is the actions to COVID vs inaction to the open boarder.
