WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson this week expressed doubts over the impact of continued U.S. assistance to Ukraine in its fight against Russia, calling the war unwinnable for either side and suggesting the warring nations need to negotiate an end to the conflict.
“At some point people are going to have to understand the reality of the situation,” the Wisconsin Republican told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Tuesday. “I don’t see a scenario, and I’ve asked — I mean, where is there a path to victory from our standpoint? All I see is a grinding stalemate that day-by-day more people get killed and more of Ukraine gets destroyed.”
Johnson said the war is a “lose-lose-lose for everybody” and added: “Nobody can win at this point. They should start negotiating.”
The comments come as Republicans have become increasingly divided on whether to continue providing financial aid and military equipment to help Ukraine defend itself against the Russian invasion. Much of the dissent has spawned from a far-right faction of House Republicans who have derided Washington’s spending on the war and called for a “peace agreement.”

Robert Reich, Sec Dept. Labor, famously said;
"If I was a young man with a thousand dollars to invest, I would invest a thousand dollars in Russia. If I was a young man with a million dollars to invest, I would invest a thousand dollars in Russia."
Trump could have handled it better.
He has a list of good accomplishments.
“ Either Ukraine negotiates now, or later when the the US cuts them off.
Their choice.
Only Ukrainian partisans care either way.”

I don;t give a rat’s ass whether the Ukrainians negotiate or not. I just want to END ALL American involvement. And I do mean ALL.
Facts mean NOTHING when you are communicating with a ZEeper on FR. Unfortunately, there are PLENTY on FR Here'sone now!
Yep.
His post was for you
All we are saying is give peace a chance!
If only they can fool everyone until there is none of Legacy America left to save.
Zeepers have lost the argument and should just go back to doing their work at GOPe headquarters

Odd, I seem to have missed where I was tagged on that comment.
What color was that short bus you took to this forum again?
Agree. NATO has gone on and on. It was supposed to be 10 years only for our USA. I was in Germany in 57-60 as my father was active duty. Why are we still in South Korea. Obama and Biden have trashed the USA. We need our manufacturing jobs back. We built everything we needed in WWII here in America.
You’re so right. Trump’s accomplishments show that he is the only politician in the United States and, indeed, the world who can bring this horrible conflict to an end. That’s why I have decided to support him for president in 2024. There is just nobody else.
Dude...if that’s how you identify...the post resonated with you.
I saw it as merely an ignorant attempt at logic in extremis.
But you agree with it.
So yeah, it was for you.

I also will not give up on getting MY VOTE COUNTED for DT!
If only the eGOP pu***** would do their job, i’ll call it ‘ballot revenge vote’ or something to make our elections safe-proof!
good for Johnson
not our monkeys, not our circus
not another penny for ukraine
That is totally wrong; Russia has basically won the war as of now.
We don't want China to take Taiwan, but we let China take over much of our manufacturing base and help them to become an economic power. We allow politicians (not just the Bidens) to cut deals with China that give China more power and influence. We let our taxpayer funded NIH send grant money to China for ‘research’ that likely led to a pandemic that caused millions of deaths, reset world politics (including affecting our own presidential election), and ushered in more government control of people's lives.
We don't want Afghanistan to become a staging area for terrorism, but we gave them weapons and financing so they could fight the USSR (i.e. Operation Cyclone), and then gave them more in 2001 just before 9/11 occurred. Then we go in militarily to Afghanistan, ‘freeing’ it, all so we could then pull out haphazardly during the first year of the Biden administration - leaving chaos, a lot of military hardware, and with the Taliban back in charge.
Etc., etc. (e.g. the feckless Iran nuclear deal).
So, if you are going to ask Americans to sacrifice more and more, including potentially the lives of their sons and daughters, you first have to fix the feckless disaster the US government and its expanded bureaucracy has been for decades.
