DeSantis is not a friend to retiring workers
Weakening Social Security
Seniors First | Adam Putnam for Governor
DeSantis’ record in the House [on this topic] is very much of the Paul Ryan, privatize Social Security platform, which is just not where our voters are now.”
The draconian cuts DeSantis voted for would have raised the eligibility age for Social Security and Medicare to 70. It would have weakened Medicare by offering seniors “premium support” instead of comprehensive health coverage. And it would have eroded Social Security by giving recipients miserly annual adjustments for inflation. Taken together, the two measures would have cut these bedrock safety-net programs for seniors by more than $250 billion over a decade.

Only sources I found were Liberals. Conservative Media doesn’t like to write articles critical of Republicans very often. It is one of the problems with Conservative Media, a lack of candor that often results in RINOs getting elected. Or should I say selected? 🤔

if you want to lose an election, then start messing with Social Security.
It's funny but all the Country Club Republicans like sniping at Social Security, but never a peep out of them about Obama Phones, EBT, Free Internet, free energy payments, welfare, Medicaid, Section 8 housing, "disability" fraud, SS payouts to illegal immigrants, on and on …

Donald Trump on his TRUTH Social account frequently goes after Ron DeSantis for being too right-wing on Medicare and Social Security. I’m not kidding. This is actually part of their playbook.

NeverTrump, pro-war. Got it.

Math is forcing this issue. If nothing is done, the American will just pay interest on the debt and have no benefits at all.

It’s truly amazing the extent to which so-called “conservatives” on this supposedly “conservative” forum hold the policies of 1980s democRATs.

Trump attacking DeSantis from the left. I guess we’ll see if the GOP is still a conservative political party of a cult of personality.

Who else voted for the bill?
Who is Adam Putnam?

I especially look forward to the part where Donald Trump is up on the primary debate stage touting Operation Warp Speed and the vaccine “I created.”

Adjustments like those need to be made for SS to not reduce benefits by 26% or more in 12 years or so.

Math is forcing this issue. If nothing is done, the American will just pay interest on the debt and have no benefits at all.
There are solutions that are "Math" or logic based that do not involved hurting our seniors, or destroying the GOP in the process because the GOP stupidly decide to cut benefits to those who have paid in all of their lives.
There is much fat in the US Government that can be cut that will fix the budgetary issues.
Cutting the benefits to the elderly will only ensure the death of the GOP, or, at least, the fact that the GOP will lose majorities in the Legislative branch, and, remove COMPLETELY, the ability of the GOP to gain the Presidency for years to come.

There should be NO reduction in benefits ever to those already in the system, or those who will need the system in the future.
The fix MUST entail cutting costs elsewhere in the Fed budget while refactoring the current SS system to be one where it is you pay in, you take out, or a more privatized form like the city of Galveston has or the country of Chile has/had.
You want to guarantee the destruction of the GOP and any voice you, as a conservative has in national governance, reduce benefits to the elderly.
That would be a stupid move as the DNC, and their partners in the Media would slaughter the GOP.

SORE LOSER Adam Putnam still cannot get over the fact that Ron DeSantis beat him in the 2018 GOP primary.
Adam Putnam was, and still is, the poster boy for the GOPe in Florida.
Adam Putnam is from Putnam County that was named after his ancestors.
To: tlozo
Knock it off, there was never a “lock box” or individual account for SS.
