Key terms:
Root Cause
Security clearance hiccup
Most likely huge delays from the government conducting their background checks.
As long as they all have covid shots and boosters everyone is safe!
And how many were Chinese or Russian "immigrants"?!
Good question.
From experience, contractors come last on investigation list - govies first. Security officer for Boeing was probably asleep at the wheel.
When I was laid off in 2010, my security officer immediately put me in and got me a 5 year update in case I got rehired. But this lesbian in Herndon, VA was getting us old people out to make room for her sexual buddies. End result was company lost the local contract, and I never used the five year update. Happily retired and I think the b**** got fired. Company lost a lot of work, my teams small part was over $6M a year.
It's not like these folks were just pulled in offa da streets to pound some rivets - they HAD a clearance before!
I've had my driver's license expire, but that didn't suddenly mean that I lost my ability to steer, shift and brake.
Or that I felt a murderous urge to drive into crowds.
Right!!! I know a young man working for a US government contractor whose application for security clearance has been in process for more than three years.
I represented a number of Boeing employees in trying to get their Yankee White clearances. The biggest problem for most of them was that they had used marijuana recreationally in a state where its use is perfectly legal.
So you would expect that this delay would cause production costs to increase. Are we back on the traditional cost-plus basis, or do Trump-era rules and pricing still apply?
Interesting info. Pot heads building AF1.
Don’t think the lapsed security clearances are the cause of the extraordinary cost overruns.
How does a plane have an expired security clearance? 😎
How many were named “Mohammad”?
Need to haul those planes to the breaker yard and start all over again.
This is what happens when there are no consequences in corporate culture.
Boeing executives got away - literally - with murder.
Why should they give a rat about problematic personnel problems?
Well, it’s just not fair that some people to have security clearance and others not.!
So, you do a little dope, so what.!!
Wasn’t too long ago that empty tequila bottles were found on equipment at the Boeing plant. Their getting loaded while building jets is not building my confidence.
One “Mohammad” mechanic sabotaged an airliner in Miami last year.
