This is a newsclip of a story out of Narberth, PA. It's a stop on the Main Line outside of Philadelphia.
A woman saw a crew installing an EV charging station in front of her home on a residential street. The Borough Council didn't even ask whether anyone wanted it. No one owns an EV on the block.
The reporter interviews the Council president (beta male sporting a ponytail) who admitted they were installing these as a way to "incentivize people to acquire EVs."

Does anybody really want to leave their $50,000 electric vehicle out in the open in places like Philadelphia or Detroit or Chicago or New York?

Commercial ev chargers do not belong on residential streets. Not the right place for them. Its like a crew coming by and putting in a commercial station gas pump in front of your house.
What’s bad is looking at the cables these chargers probably charge at Level 2 speeds -— slooooowwwwww. It’s just money spent to make the community feel good and make a council member’s family richer.
That’s exactly what the resident said too. Again, proving liberals never think about the fallout from their emotional decision-making.
Nice to see someplace has all the real problems under control and money to burn.
WHOSE POWER SUPPLY has this been connected to???
I seriously doubt that a separate supply line has been or will be installed-——so that would mean current property owner’s power line has been attached.
IF they are not home-—ANYONE can pull up & use charger at their curb?????
This sounds VERY invasive & VERY open to litigation.
The council better install a trail cam...to catch the “vandals” that keep disabling the charger.
To say it’s like installing a gas station is beyond absurd. But drawing non-residents into a residential street with already tight parking would be just plain wrong... except no-one’s gonna use it like that anyway. Total waste of money. You gonna park in a strange neighborhood for 30 minutes while you charge?
I’ve laughed off the complaints about how long it takes to charge a car, because let’s face it, everyone needs a break from driving. It makes sense for highway rest stations.
You drive 300 miles, pull over, grab a light meal while you charge, carry on the rest of your journey. When you’re at home or at your destination, you charge up overnight. But who’s gonna wait in a strange residential block for 30 minutes while charging their car?
I think it’s tied right into the powerline at the pole. People use credit cards to pay for the charge. BTW - The town took the charging station out.
Then again, hippy betamale councilor apologized, removed the station and agreed to find somewhere else where it WAS wanted.
Waaa. I might have had some sympathy if not for her NIMBY-ism.
And no thieves would ever think of stealing these chargers for the scrap copper
Don’t be ridiculous. As absurd as this is, they aren’t using the resident’s power connection (downstream of the meter) to supply the charger.
That’s what the homeowner should do. Get rid of the problem and make some money off it to boot.
I’d “accidentally” back my F350 over it.
I tend to drive 650 mi/day w/o stopping except for the occasional gas fill [I tend to stop for gas more frequently than necessary as I like to use nonalcoholic gasoline - not available everywhere]. The truck can go ~600 mi/tank, depending.
YMMV.
Usually the liberals install these things in more common sense places. Because they like having multiple stations in a dedicated space somewhere in a large parking lot area the public frequents. They like this because then they can drive people there and point to all what they did.
A way to incentivize people to buy an EV....Hmmmm
“Hey there, you don’t have health insurance? Really? Let me shoot you in the foot to incentivize you to get health insurance.”
Either that town has just enough of folks like that beta male to elect that beta male, or this is proof that no one pays attention and why things like school boards are filled with liberal, busy bodies that have no connections to the schools they’re supposed to have oversight of.
