“Beans and the like on Passover are a regular item for eastern Jews, who never accepted the Kitniot decree”

Oh, I know.

It was a regular fight in my home growing up. Three grandparents from the Shoa and one (mom’s mom) from Egypt. Mom’s mom won growing up.

I married an Orthodox/former Hasidic Ashkenazi. So no beans.

But I agree with my Bubbe (yes, I know that’s Yiddish). It’s just flat stupid.

The boy is taking classes as Chabad, just toes in. We’ll see. He does speak fluent Hebrew already. And converted once already, to a Nazarene, which I consider an improvement theologically. So he’s on a journey. Son-in-law or not, I wish him well.

I wonder if our State Dept is as troubled by the fact the Palestinians haven’t bothered with an election since 2006. Must be due to Covid or some such nonsense.
