PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Cracker Barrel has permanently closed its remaining two locations in the Portland metro area, citing the pandemic.
A spokesperson for Cracker Barrel confirmed the closure of their Beaverton and Tualatin restaurants on Monday.
They are also permanently closing a Bend location.
“As a standard course of business, we continually evaluate the performance of our stores, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our guests and our business. With that, we are saddened that we have been unable to overcome the impact the pandemic had on our business and have made the difficult decision to close the Beaverton, Tualatin, and Bend locations.”

They can eat bugs for all I care.
Beaverton and Tualatin are a ways from downtown Portland. I doubt it was the urban antifa or urban ghetto crowd in Beaverton and Tualatin. I haven’t seen any “smash and grab” hits on restaurants.
“Covid”. Sure. How about “Woke hoodlums”.
Beaverton used to be incredibly nice 25 years ago. Amazing to see they can’t even support a Cracker Barrel now.
I used to live in WA 20 years ago and traveled around the NW on an IT contract. There were crazy areas even then. Eugene was the worst. Instant road rage if I used the left lane for passing. Apparently the right lane was for faster traffic and passing.
But I still miss the fresh, breaded, fried halibut I could get at Long John Silvers. Incredible for drive thru fast food. I was all over that. It’s probably a marijuana dispensary now.
I remember a television quote from an emaciated resident of Zimbabwe after Mugabe had turned it from the breadbasket of southern Africa to the basket case: “White man maybe can’t jump, but he sure do know how to grow food!”
Good for them.
The only food that should be available to folks in Portland is bugs.
There are several videos of white farmers returning to Zimbabwe with cheers from blacks.
Breakfasts are delicious at Cracker Barrel. The French toast is perfect!
Got to admire the grit of those white farmers who took a chance on returning!
They serve Breakfast Anytime, so I ordered French Toast during The Renaissance. - Steven Wright
When “fwdude” mentioned Bend, I think of my children’s experience. The daughter in law went to local conference where she asked a Bend school principal about the public schools there. He said he would never send his children to a public school there.
At their local church a couple was told their son entering middle school would benefit from attending the LGBTQ, etc. club. They said no thank you and received repeated phone calls about the subject. They finally asked to attend a meeting or see the curriculum and were told they could not. At that point they received a call form the State expressing their concern. The couple quit their jobs, sold their house, and moved out of state. My son visited one of the schools and saw posters displaying what he considered cutting edge grooming language.

Too bad. I did eat at one of these Cracker Barrel locations a few years ago. Forget which one. Wasn’t in a bad area. Was outside of the Portland metro area.
I can tell you all about this. I live across the river in Washington, but grew up in Tennessee and love Cracker Barrel. There were 4 at one time, but the one just across the river in the Delta Park area was the first to close as they were paying over $10k a month for security to try to stop the shoplifters and homeless from camping on their front lawn. This sucked, as it was the easiest to get to for me. (It’s just across the freeway from where a Safeway had closed because they were losing $40k a month in theft). I’ve been to the the other 2 Portland area locations. The Tualatin one had VALET PARKING when it opened to try to cut down on the number of cars camping in front of the place. 2 hour waits were not unheard of. I never saw security guards at these other 2 locations though. And it breaks my heart that they’re closing, as Medford is 5 hours away, and is just this side of the California border.
The benefit it has that the others do not? It’s A LONG WAY from Portland. That’s the only reason I can come up with.
They were ALWAYS hiring post-pandemic. I used to chat with my waiter as he was about my age, and knew what was going on, and he said they COULD NOT get wait staff or cooks. More money didn’t help, flexible hours didn’t work. “People just don’t want to work”.
“Beaverton, Tualatin, and Bend locations.”
Unfortunate they’re closing the one in Bend. That’s in the American sector of Oregon.
Several years ago, when my younger son said he wanted to go to a Cracker Barrel for his Birthday, we went to the one in Bremerton. It was only a couple hours away, and we had a good time. Three years ago, he wanted to go to Cracker Barrel again for his birthday, but he said “There’s no way in hell that I want to go to Portland!”. So we went to the fairly-new one in Couer D’Alene, ID. Farther away from us, to be sure, but a much better setting.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Chick-fil-A was the next to go.
“even Bend, OR has gone to the dark side, voting for Biden in 2020 (allegedly.)”
Thanks to the Camo liberals moving into and living in and out of Bend/SunRiver. That started a couple of decades ago.
They, now, basically have control from Bend/SunRiver, to Sisters and from Bend to Medford.
Bend was also one of the staging areas of protests against illegal alien transports by ICE several years ago (under Trump.) Protesters rioted, blocked buses and caused general nastiness in the city, with no consequences to them. I was shocked to hear this because when I visited several years earlier, it seemed like a fairly conservative area.
The Christian ministry I follow (Berean Call) is based there, and they always held their annual conference at the main conference center in town, a roomy venue. A few years ago, they announced that the conference would be held off site at an affiliated church, with much less room to accommodate the attendees and further from lodging and restaurants. I’m almost certain that the venue barred them from further rental of the facility because TBC was staunchly conservative, biblical, and opposed same-sex “marriage.” After the court cases redefining marriage, they were no longer welcome in public facilities.
