Teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) went on a three-day strike Tuesday as negotiations fell apart and the district’s two unions walked off the job, leaving families in the lurch.
Working parents scrambled to find child care options and alternate activities during the midweek strike. The first day of the strike happened to coincide with the start of yet another storm, limiting outdoor possibilities.
As Breitbart News reported last week, the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) is striking in solidarity with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 99, the union that is at the heart of the controversy.

Raises for teachers should depend on performance. Have their students performed at grade or better, or not.
“Oh, well. Bring in the scabs. Some of them might know how to teach.”
The way curriculum is devised these days is basically classroom material with the accompanying teacher workbook.
Until you get to hard sciences and upper level math courses in high school, general subject matter teaching in reality is basic facilitator work.
LA teacher salaries start in the high 50s, which is pretty awful considering the cost of living and the incredible difficulty of the job.
I think government employee strikes should be illegal. Treat it as a resignation, but give criminal penalties to the organizers.
“The district’s minority enrollment is 90%”
Bwahahahahahaha.
90% is now a “minority”.
Where is everybody else hiding?
;-)
Most of LA County is basically part of Mexico these days.
The district has set up “Grab and Go” centers where parents can pick up FIVE meals for each kid so they won’t starve during these three days.
So we have the schools not only indoctrinating the children in Marxism, but also feeding them on taxpayer money. I give up!
So what do we need these sh!t-heels for. If they won’t read their workbook for a 23% raise, well, ‘bye.
This should be no surprise if the SEIU is involved. Parasites all.
Hah! It’s pouring rain this morning in LA...love seeing these miserable grifters walking their picket line in this weather! :)
This is probably a good thing for the students!
They will be exposed to less debauchery on the streets and in the back alleys, while off school, than what they would face inside those LGBTQ-BLM-CRT classrooms!!
Take out Christmas, Thanksgiving, Spring Break, and ALL federal holidays and it equates to about 6 months total.
Shades of Atlas Shrugged-————
At least the kids are safe
Since LAPD has a huge number of children not proficient at anything I think the raise should be zero
If you call it work
its not the teachers going on strike, its the lunch ladies, janitors etc that want 23% increase. must be nice!!!
No they don’t. The teachers are striking because the service employee union rejected the raise. The teachers don’t have any demands, no dog in this fight.
I must admit, I feel less angst about them getting a raise than I would about the teachers.
At least the janitors can be judged on the objective quality of their work...and the lunch ladies...okay, well maybe not the lunch ladies (only kidding)!
Presenting that deal won’t do anything. It’s the SEIU that’s actually on strike. The Teachers are just striking with them, not actually for anything.
