New York’s strict concealed carry law is under challenge, as a panel of federal judges considers a slew of legal challenges from firearm owners and dealers across the state.
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments Monday morning on a handful of lawsuits that argue the Concealed Carry Improvement Act — passed days after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the state’s prior concealed carry law — violates New Yorkers’ 2nd amendment rights.
“Gov. Hochul promised that she was going to fight back, and the New York Assembly and [she] did just that,” said Stephen Stamboulieh, an attorney representing plaintiffs in one of the cases. “They thumbed their nose at the Supreme Court, they retaliated against the second amendment and they’re really thumbing their nose at the judiciary in general.”
It could take months...years before the courts decide whether the law will stand in the longterm. The Monday hearing will only determine if the state can continue to enforce the law while the challenges wind their way through the legal system. Experts expect that the law will eventually land back in front of the Supreme Court.
During the 2 hour hearing, a state attorney defended the expansive gun regulations, which banned firearms from so-called “sensitive” areas like Times Square and added additional requirements to get a concealed carry license, including turning over a list of every social media account an applicant has used in the last 3 years.
These provisions are all intended to ensure that only law-abiding and responsible people obtain firearms licenses. Those are the people that are protected by the text of the second amendment,” said Ester Murdukhayeva with the state attorney general’s office. “People who fall outside the category of law-abiding and responsible people do not have second amendment rights here.”

Interesting.
Betcha Ester would not dare say that about politician's First Amendment rights that have violated the law.
How about "Free Speech licenses" that can be revoked at the whim of some clueless prog that didn't like what someone said or was accused of some crime?
Oh harumph, huff, grunt and snort they would say!
Why, you can't do that, it's in the Constitution they would say!!
What Ester does not understand is that BS rolls down both sides of a hill.
.
These laws do not apply to common criminals... So this entire exercise is a moot point. Only law abiding citizens pay attention to laws. Criminals who typically use weapons are like shingles... Shingles doesn’t care... And neither do they.
Sadly, most deaths are a result of weapons bought for an paid for by law abiding citizens who register them. Domestic violence results in more deaths than common criminals could even dream of. Having a weapon registered and ‘controlled’ doesn’t stop the deaths that can result from having weapons readily available.
We really need the Supreme Court to reset the 2nd amendment and simply state that any US citizen can buy, possess, and carry a firearm anywhere in the US, per the Constitution, without worrying about laws on one side of a state line versus the other side. As this is a constitutional amendment, it should not take Congress passing a law. Besides, my free speech rights don't change when I cross a state line, nor my other constitutional rights.
This was all done because NY got mad SCOTUS slapped down their anti-2a law, so they doubled down. IMHO, it was done as punishment for pro-2a citizens/groups for daring to question NYS.

Has any court defined “Shall Not Be Infringed”?
I know what The Founders had to say about it.
Hell bent on leaving us and our families unprotected while they empty the prisons and give criminals more chances to rape rob and murder
Will they decide for the bad guys? Or just the good guys as usual.

It is not even close. Intimate partner homicides are about 14% of all homicides.
The number of intimate partner homicides dropped dramatically from 1976 to 1996, when the Lautenberg Amendment was passed. It has been pretty flat since then.
What weapon is that on the ping gif? I know most models but that one eludes me. It looks like a Thompson/sturmgewehr lovechild with an FN looking stock. Cases look like 5.56

I hate this communist dumpster fire and would love to leave. Anybody hiring the equivalent of a fire and life safety director in the south? Half serious question there.
Regardless how this is decided. This back and forth legal stall is going to go on for years.
