House Republicans at their annual retreat in Orlando called for calmer heads to prevail in response to Donald Trump’s calls for supporters to “protest, take our nation back” over his claims that he will be arrested on Tuesday.
The tamp-down of Trump’s rhetoric came as the former president lashed out at his former “fixer” Michael Cohen to discredit his testimony to a Manhattan grand jury.
“I don’t think people should protest this, no,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters Sunday night when asked about Trump’s weekend postings.
“And I think President Trump, if you talk to him, he doesn’t believe that either.”
The House speaker suggested that Trump was trying to “educate people about what’s going on.”

Trump supporters are not violent! PERIOD. Look at his rallies.....peaceful, friendly to all. I’m sorry but I don’t agree that J6 was violent BY TRUMP SUPPORTERS.
Many of the Left’s protests are disruptive and/or violent but they and their allies in the media tell us they’re mostly peaceful.
Democrats have the sole right to assemble. We don’t.
Protest is important.

I voted for Trump twice, but I’m not blind to his uber-ego when it’s on full display. If he thinks bad-mouthing his R opponents is the road to victory, he’s not only wrong, but stupid. His ego is off the chart and there seems to be no one to save him from himself.
Did Democrats EVER “call for calm” during the 2020 riots that killed 35 people, destroyed $2 billion of property, injured countless police, had “CHAZ” type zones all over the country squatting on private property, and unleaded the antifa and BLM terrorists upon us?
Not once that I recall.
Frankly, I’d love to see 5X the outrage and damage if Trump is persecuted by the NY DA. Of course, then Garland would suspend Posse Comitatus, turn the armed forces loose on Americans, and indefinitely imprison one million of us.

That's exactly what it comes down to. They get to define the terms and we get to sit down and shut up.
well, we rarely do it (protest in public square) and at least we feel better being on record. it is a valuable right and we would miss it if taken away. now is the time to be heard on this latest outrage at the hands of the government.

Wow. Forget the movie it’s from but “We seem to have a failure to communicate” fits. I voted for DT twice and will again if he’s the nominee. I doubt he’d win unless the Dems are stupid enough to run Biden or Kamala. Trump is divisive, i.e. a love him or hate him sort of guy. He’s also old, which isn’t an issue if Biden’s the opponent. There is not just the one definition of protest.
We better be protesting in many different ways.
Trumps call to protest was right on the money. This is a test of do we fight or give up.
We do enough of that, by sitting back and allowing the left to destroy the Country. We're too interested in peaceful slavery than dangerous freedom. Gotta keep working so we can keep feeding the fed. But who cares, really, because we got our nice houses, lifted pickup trucks, totally useless firearm arsenals, and booze to drink while we watch the "Big Game" on that stimmied paid for 75" flat screen TV. There are NO actual patriots any longer. I don't care what the 2%ers, oath breakers or pride boys say.
