Governor Chris Sununu (R-NH), a potential 2024 contender, said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the money the United States is spending to help Ukraine in the War against Russia is a “deal.”
Anchor Jake Tapper said, “According to CNN polls, about 40% of Republican voters are supporting Donald Trump right now, about 36% are supporting Ron DeSantis. You haven’t declared yesterday, so I guess my question is, that’s a big chunk of the Republican Party supporting people who disagree with you on how vital Ukraine is. Explain to a Republican voter out there, who is skeptical of why this is in the national interest, other than notions of the U.S. stands for freedom, why is this in the national interest to support Ukraine in the war?”

these fools have NO idea what is truly in the US strategic interest
He much be in on the take
I've already proven this claim false. National Guard are not US Army until federalized by the CIC, which rarely happens. Civilians contractors are never consider US Army. So you have 463,083 active duty and 175,752 reserves. And I'll bet most of those reserves are inactive reserves, just like I was after leaving the USMC. 463,083 + 175,752 = 638,835 total. Bye.
Our border is under attack and it’s not the Russians attacking.
Terminology. Arguing over words.
It is an important clarification.
Every effort to spend other people’s money is pitched as good deal.
The Federal Government has taken advantage of so many good deals, we’re $30+T in debt.
They can all GTH.
I’ve never seen the inactive reserves to be counted.
All the branches have active reserves.
Globalist NeoCon scum. No better than the Demonrats.
Screw the RINO!
He is just a good little Rino who always salutes whatever the “party” policy is.
$138 billion of our money has been sent to that grifting little Ukrainian weasel while we go broke and we're being inundated with human garbage from every shithole on the planet.
Some deal. People here can’t even afford to pay their mortgages/rent, credit card debt, put gas in their cars, or food on the table.
And how would our giving arms from our old inventory help someone pay their mortgage?
Whether it's old inventory or not. It was still paid for by hard-working taxpayers, so it should just be sent to Ukraine? You also forget the military equipment and ordnance Biden left in Afghanistan, in the hands of our enemies. Nobody has been held responsible for the loss of millions/billions of dollars of equipment, not to mention the death of 13 Marines. The U.S. has had to resupply the loss of that equipment, at whose expense? The taxpayer's of course. And gee, if you're going to start WWIII against Russia, that will include China and possibly Iran, wouldn't you think that surplus inventory might come in handy instead of shipping it off to a money-laundering, corrupt nation? You might has well have sent it to Russia since there's no difference between the two countries.
Shit, I've never even been in the military, but I do know history, and I know the historical facts of how hard it is to manufacture enough military equipment during war, and supply a moving army trying to fight that war. Biden has depleted our oil reserve, even selling it to China. How do you think that oil depletion would affect our ability to supply our troops with the necessary fuel to fight a new World War? You make it sound like it's no big deal, but when the shit hits the fan, it is a big fucking deal.
I understand your points. I respectfully disagree.
The issue is that Ukraine IS using it. Just watching the artillery battles tells you that the shells we send go straight to the front. They are not going to be “left behind” for anyone. Nor is it going to the black market in any meaningful amount. And we are not sending aircraft and top line systems that would be meaningful if they were captured by anyone.
The money on this stuff was spent years ago. Some of those shells and arms are two generations old; meaning it was produced during the first part of the Iraqi war. Out military has moved on to more effective munitions. So, leaving them in inventory would accomplish very little. And not one cent would be saved for anyone to pay their mortgage. (A strong case could be made that this stuff paid for mortgages in 2008-14 when they were produced.)
The arms we are giving to the Ukranians would not be used in a war against China. They are the wrong types of weapons. Unless you are suggesting we would engage China in a land war. I believe we can both agree that is not likely.
One thing to keep in mind about China; their Oil supply is 90% imported. Most of their oil supply comes from the Middle East around Southeast Asia. Two submarines on picket duty could shut that off. The second largest source is Russia. There are two main pipelines coming into China from Russia. One is in the ‘Stans and the other is west of Vladivostok. It would take the cruise missiles from two destroyers to put those terminals out of action.
China is not likely to start anything with us soon. And, we are not depleting our stores of those arms helping Ukraine.
Ukraine is part of Europe. Europe has been a significant national interest of the US for the past two hundred years. We learned twice in the last century that “waiting” was a losing propositions. There are tens of thousands of US bodies in graves in Europe because we “waited.” We spend trillions of dollars occupying and building Europe after the last big war there. We kept the peace. Suggesting that it is none of our business is ignoring the past 120 years of our history.
I believe there is a strong cadre of “conservatives” who are so deep into the Trump cult, they cannot see beyond him. I don’t think these people are conservatives in the traditional sense. They spew talking points without considering what is real and what is “rhetoric.” They focus on tropes and memes that really mean nothing. They are so angry about Trumps first impeachment they are willing to allow millions to be displaced, murdered, and land taken in an aggressive war.
I don’t believe you are one of those people. I merely think you haven’t really thought through their positions.
Maybe not. I don’t know.
Bump.
Even the $**t-stirring Uke harpies here on FR are worthy of contempt. The absolute worst of us.
At first I just wanted out of Ukraine. Now I want it smashed to tiny pieces - which is being handled.
I don't have to think through "their positions." I prefer to think about "our position" and what the Biden Administration is doing to this country in order to put money in the pockets of politicians on both sides of the aisle with this so called "war", and his handlers' attempts to escalate it. I grew up in the 50's with the threat of nuclear holocaust every day, air raid drills, and unrelenting BS brain-washing propaganda. And because I was young, I believed the propaganda fed by the government. It's the same BS propaganda being fed to us today, and I choose not to listen to it anymore. I'm not as gullible as I was when I was younger. There is no national security interest for the U.S. in Ukraine. Ukraine was a part of Russia for a very long time. Both Russia and Ukraine are corrupt countries, and I could give a rat's ass about either of them. I hope they destroy each other. We however, don't have to help them do it, and put ourselves in the line of fire. In this day and age, the enemy of my enemy is not my friend. And Ukraine has never been our friend. They only know us because they want something from us.
My Governor...

“I am glad that I am not the only one who does not want to go back to a cold war with Russia or worse. Stopping them in advance only makes sense.”
Thousands of servicemen were lost in hot/cold conflict with Russia.
