It makes sense. I never understood why on Friends that Monica a wealthy White woman neat freak who worked as a chef had such a mishmash of kitchen shelves (she did not have closed cupboards). I mean higgelty piggelty would be the kindest way of putting it.. The homophobia (despite have lesbian characters) of that series has been discussed in depth but now I get the producers also did their part to hide how racist the series was. They knew a neat kitchen would be just as much of a tip off as a Confederate battle flag and calling all male Black characters “boy.”

When I was working in offices & needed to dress accordingly, I hung my clothes : skirt/vest/blouse together-—all across the clothes pole. All I needed to do was grab the group of hangars & not dither over what went with what.
Now I live In SWEATS-—but all the black pants are in one cubby/grey in another/navy, etc. Same for sweatshirts.
