Why did Ron DeSantis appoint a WEF person to his administration to counter climate change?

No, I don’t trust him.

But the headline to this thread is misleading.

What he said is that he doesn’t know whether the rising sea level he has seen in FL is from human-influenced climate change or not, but either way it is something that he thinks needs to be handled. (I paraphrase.)

Any Floridian Freepers here who can comment on the claim of a rising sea level down there?!?

Yes, thats what we are saying. FreeRepublic demands absolutely purity on all issues. No nuance is allowed.

Watch the clip. He didn’t say he believed the rising sea levels he says he has seen is human caused. He said whether or not it is, and that he doesn’t know whether or not it is, that is something FL needs to deal with.

If he is a believer in the term “climate change” as used politically by democrats, then yes a dealbreaker.

from the link...

Dr. Nesheiwat managed the resiliency and energy working group on the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Advisory Council and is a well-known advocate on energy and environmental programs and critical infrastructure protection (CI), power sector sustainability and innovation projects....Dr. Nesheiwat is a former U.S. Army intelligence officer with combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Oh wait...we can't criticize her - she's a MILITARY VETERAN! That makes everything OK.

She's WEF all the way, but it just doesn't matter. In fact she's a double-whammy - WEF *and* Intel. Just like Tulsi.

We will see more and more of these people - WEF, WEF/Intel - coming into politics and public service.

Spooks with an agenda. What could go wrong?

We have a winner.

The Climate on Earth has been changing for millions of years.
For millions of years it was much warmer. Which is why we find dinosaur bones in Montana. Then the planet cooled. It started warming about 12,000 years ago.

We can have effect on parts of the planet. This is called pollution. It caused the river in Cleveland to catch on fire.
The sulfur from coal fired plants in OH & PA caused the rain falling in the Adirondacks to become more acidic than normal. It eventually effected the PH in some lakes.

However, the output from one or two volcanos is probably equal to all the pollutants put into the atmosphere by humans in years. May of these volcanos are under the ocean in places like Antarctica. These volcanos cause the ice to melt.

Petroleum and methane are made by the Earths mantle. These are constantly leaking out of the Earths crust in many places. Especially in the bottom of the oceans.
They ARE NOT FOSSIL FUELS. We need to stop referring to them as fossil fuels. They are carbon based products made by the Earth.

The problem is the premise.

As usual we play along with the live that they are CORRECT about all these issues. Including basic premises.

The basic premise here could be “climate change is happening”, but in this case the most serious premise is “it will ruin everything!” I don’t think slight tweaks in temperature is a big deal.

So I guess RDS can consider cc, and I don’t like any consideration of liberal scares, but if he really thinks even 2 deg is important then that is much worse.

Actually some of those paleontological findings are not as much world climate, but location.

Montana wasn’t at the latitude and longitude it is now. There have been major shifts in tectonic plates. There was Gondwana and Pangea when conitinejts were all together.

The climate is always changing. That’s a given.

The issue is whether or not humans can affect it that much. The “Gretas” of the world believe that we can and try to force ineffective means to lessen the impact.

Others believe that the human impact is going to be minimal. These people are in favor of taking steps to mitigate the affects of these changes. I believe reasonable people can be in this camp.

The question I have asked the first group is if the sea levels are going to rise THAT much, why aren’t we building sea walls everywhere? I drive along the Atlantic coast every year. I don’t see that construction.

Reasonable people can discuss this stuff, reasonably.

Maybe you live in Florida but if you don’t, the Everglades and Red Tide are to really big issues with a lot of people in Florida regardless of party and every Republican Governor has promised to help on both issues

There’s not been any Green New Seal mandates or n Florida but a commitment to improve the environment
