202 views Mar 16, 2023 #russia #drone #blacksea US military officials have released a dramatic video of the moment a Russian fighter jet collided with a US drone over the Black Sea earlier this week.
The footage shared Thursday morning by the US European Command (EUCOM) was captured by the underside camera of the MQ-9 Reaper drone as one of two Su-27 fighter jets attempted to spray it with jet fuel.
On the second try, the jet collides with the drone’s rear propeller, and the screen pixelates as communication goes down.
An audio clip also purported to capture a Russian salvage team recovering the aircraft’s engine casing.
“We raised part of the object,” one voice says in the recording obtained by East to West.

"No collision." That prop blade didn't bend itself...

Do you take legal advice from My Cousin Vinny? Legal advice? Maybe. Dating advice? Certainly.

On the video, after the pixilating stops, at frames 38, 39, 40, & 41, the bent propeller is clearly visible.
The MiG pilots are trying to get the drone to fly through the dumped fuel. The fuel, going into the engine inlet could cause the engine to flame out.
My guess is that the engine would not flame out. Even if it did, the drone would have an air-start capability.

Go back and look at the last second or two of the video.
The pixelation caused by the contact clears and the video image of the rotating prop reappears. The tip of one of the prop blades is now clearly bent. Probably contacted one of the strakes on the rear fuselage of the Su-27 as the fighter pulled up.
Earlier imagery of the prop in the video show its blades to be straight and undamaged.
A damaged prop would introduce significant vibration and normally would require immediate landing of the aircraft. That was not an option given the location.
News reports indicate there was sufficient control and time for the drone to be flown to an area of deep water and deliberately crashed. Further, reports indicate controllers executed protocols to wipe classified systems of data/programs and probably “brick” (render inoperable/unresponsive) computer hard drives.
The impact of the crash did the rest. Assuming a high angle of impact at speed, the fragile nature of the drone, and the reported depth of the water, crash debris is probably pretty fragmented.
The fuel dumping maneuver as a possible intercept/knockdown tactic is interesting. Perhaps the pilot was hoping to create an aerosol effect and catch the drone on fire when the vapors contacted hot exhaust/components of the drone’s engine?

"WWII happened because we didn’t sit out WWI." Actually, we agree. Pretty much every US screwup happened as a result of not following the wisdom of the Founding Fathers.

Have thought again and again. The only folks supporting this crapstorm of a leader (Zelynsky and BeijingBiden) are ones profiting from the money laundering and sex trafficking. This is a “wag the dog” scene.

So does it matter what happens in Ukraine? NO. It will only matter as we progressively insert ourselves and the consequences pile up.
It does matter. Vietnam was not a war involving Russia or China, at least not directly. So, apples and oranges. In Vietnam, the people were fighting against each other, north vs south, so, no real distinction between friend and foe. The people in S. Vietnam were not so much interested in fighting. I know, I was there.
In Ukraine, the people there don't want Russia's takeover, not Russia's rule. The people are actually doing the fighting to remain independent. Not that same as what was happening in Vietnam.
The 'bullshit' as you put it, is real, and Russia has been an aggressive country for, it seems forever. They have invaded and taken over other countries in the past, and their ambitions have not changed.
China is looking at what happens in Ukraine, and are actually assisting Russia. You think that's for benign reasons? If you do, then you're an imbecile.
Europe is helping Ukraine. So, do you think it doesn't matter to them either. Russia is not going to stop with just Ukraine, and one domino at a time means that, eventually, all of Europe is in danger of becoming controlled by Russia or at least uncaring.
Where would that leave the U.S. Do you honestly think that the ultimate goal by China and Russia it not to render the U.S. helpless and eventually surrender to their ideology?
Simple minds cannot think beyond the present, and cannot understand cause and effect, while the enemy is constantly strategizing and looking at the next step, until "checkmate!".
So, the BS actually resides in your court.

Have thought again and again.
And your thinking comes up very short of common sense.
I don't care about Zelensky or Biden or profiteers from the war. I care about the future, and the future after Ukraine would lead to WW3, if we allow Russia and China to have their ways.
It's not about Zelensky or Biden of profiting from wars. It's about the not-sod-distant future threats to our way of life.
Don't play connect-four while the enemy is playing chess.

More stupid fear-mongering, projection and pure conjecture - trying to convince people of the neocon-Ukraine con game.
At least try some new slogans, using tired old ones like “dominos” is never going to convince anyone.

Excellent point re dating advice, plus I thought even his legal advice was pretty good (once his woman taught him about criminal discovery).
great movie.

Dooshbag, the two planes have similar hardpoints on their wings. That’s the point.
You’re kind of stupid this way aren’t you?
You make a comment, someone calls you on it, and then you try to pretend the topic was something else. Clumsy.

So, a US fighter jet fired a $400,000 Sidewinder missile to down a Chinese weather balloon, while a Russian fighter jet downed a US Reaper drone by dropping oil on it?
Try harder, Rocco.
