U.S. officials have released video that shows a Russian Su-27 fighter jet colliding with the propeller of a U.S. MQ-9 reaper drone.
The video was released by the U.S. military's European Command on Thursday, allowing the public to view the widely-reported aerial incident.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin summarized the incident Wednesday in a press conference, saying, "Two Russian jets dumped fuel on an unmanned U.S. MQ-9 aircraft conducting routine operations in international airspace. And one Russian jet intercepted and hit our MQ-9 aircraft, resulting in a crash."
Austin sharply criticized the Russian military for its actions, stating that the Black Sea incident was "a part of a pattern of aggressive and risky and unsafe actions by Russian pilots in international airspace."
Russia has previously denied that the aircraft touched one another, and accused the U.S. of unnecessarily escalating the issue.

I don’t believe it shows that.
So where was the video shot from?
It’s from the drone camera.
Re: 17 - Well, if that’s the case then it should make life a little easier, as no video can ever be trusted ever again. So should videos be watched ever again?
Will give people time to mow the grass, sweep the patio, etc.
Win-win
Every plane that I know of dumps fuel out of its wing tips. Perhaps the animators didn’t know that?
Damn, that Russian pilot is one gutsy son of a Jill.
However, we are once more back to the question, who do we believe? Moscow or Washington? Two well known liars.
The Democrats or the Republicans? Both well known liars.
If I understand correctly...
If Russia and China fly surveillance drones in international air space off the USA coast line, the Biden Administration will NEVER shoot them down?
LOL - well, that is reassuring!
Fuel Dump and a nice close Jet Wash, YES. COLLISION, not so sure. Video was too stable and drone itself was stable after supposed collision.
Exactly. In surprised they haven’t taken out more of our stuff. Which they would be justified in doing. That’s what happens in war.
Stumbling into WW III.
Does the camera record damage done to the Russian aircraft???
I’m wondering about the risk to the SU-27: since at that collision speed, even a minor impact with a much smaller and lighter object could presumably cause significant damage, as in bird strikes. Which makes me think that any contact, if it occurred, was unintentional. Completely different from the RAF WW2 V1 wing-flipping technique, where the Typhhons or Meteors had first to match the speed and direction of the V1, before a very gentle controlled contact.
From the camera on the drone itself. The operator was watching in real time.
The jet did NOT hit the drone.
he flew across its path while dumping fuel so the drone would run into it.
basically, he pissed on the drone and the drone went down.
your pic is bs. that’s NOT in the video.
thx for the misinformation.
what if you went full afterburner without igniting the fuel... i’d imagine it’d look like that
The propeller appears to be bent backward but the plane approached from the rear. Odd, but we shouldn’t question our government.
We know the Biden administration lies all the time.
They were probably hoping it would ignite and destroy the aircraft.
They might have been hoping to cause problems with the fuel intake in the drone engine.
This war has been one of the most "transparent" wars ever. Both sides have access to multiple satellite feeds.
Very difficult to hide equipment and masses of troops in this war.
