Former President Donald J. Trump holds a 24-point lead over the rest of the potential 2024 Republican Party primary field, according to a hypothetical poll.
The Morning Consult poll released Tuesday shows that more than half of potential GOP primary voters, 52 percent, want Trump as the nominee. He sits 24 percentage points ahead of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) at 28 percent. No other candidate eclipsed the ten percent mark.

There was virtually no movement between the two leaders compared to last week, which showed Trump with a 25-point lead over the governor, who has not announced a bid for the nomination.
Former Vice President Mike Pence draws seven percent of the response, followed by former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), who launched her campaign last month, at four percent. Three percent of respondents selected former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY).
Gov. Gregg Abbott (R-TX), Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD), Gov. Glen Youngkin (R-VA), Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are tied at one percent.
The poll also asked Trump voters and DeSantis voters who their second choices would be. A plurality, 48 percent, of Trump voters chose DeSantis as their next option, while another 14 percent selected Pence and 11 percent chose Haley. Similarly, 45 percent of DeSantis voters say Trump is their second option. Pence would take fourteen percent of DeSantis voters, and Haley would pick up six percent.

“Our sample of potential Republican primary voters includes any registered voter who said they plan to vote in the Republican presidential primary or caucus in their state in 2024,” Morning Consult senior reporter Eli Yokley noted.
DeSantis looking strong at ~30% considering he hasn’t even declared yet.
I am utterly astonished that 7% wanted Pence.
Cheney? Yes, I believe her dad stole the 2004 election from Kerry and she knows if the rats are arrested, Dick Cheney and Dubya will be, too.
Okay, let’s say all these people run. There’s 19 points up for grabs when Trump and DeSantis are the last ones standing. Lots of never Trumpers in that 19%. Might be interesting.
Trump needs to keep crushing DeSantis and grinding him into the dirt.
Well , while we hate Mike Pence here on Free Republic, the rest of the world does not view him that way.
Trump needs to keep crushing DeSantis and grinding him into the dirt.
..........
Yes, and he needs to attack the globalist corportist leanings of the whole of them. He needs to talk about a reasonably regulated Free Market supplanting the current corrupt Capitalism of the elites.
Pence never did anything except stab Trump in the back.
I said “Trump” when they called, but only because they agreed not to double or triple the useless emails I receive from GOP-affiliated groups every day.
If that’s what Trump thinks he’s doing, it’s not working.
None of this matters.
No republican will win in 2024 unless they can figure out an answer to the biden administration’s plans for that election. The biden administration has weaponized every agency of the federal government to get out the democrat vote. They have further allocated billions of dollars to non profits to interface with federal agencies and local election boards to get out the democrat vote—including illegals they bringing over the border.
So far I’ve not heard of any republican with an answer to this.
