Texas House Votes to Honor LGBTQ Advocacy Groups

The Texas House of Representatives is continuing its pattern of passing controversial resolutions, voting unanimously to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transexual chambers of commerce.

. . . the resolution was approved unanimously by a record vote, after it was packaged alongside nearly 200 other resolutions.

Specifically, the resolution honors the Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and North Texas Chambers of Commerce, citing their leftist legislative agenda:

The “comprehensive nondiscrimination legislation” referenced by the resolution refers to proposals that would allow men in women’s restrooms or prevent employers and businesses from practicing their Religious beliefs. When he was chair of the House State Affairs Committee in 2019, current House Speaker Dade Phelan supported that language, saying he was “done talking about bashing on the gay community.”

Additionally, the resolution celebrates the LGBTQ groups for being a “powerful advocate for the dignity and prosperity of all Texans.”

Ahead of the vote, the Republican Party of Texas stated they were opposed to the resolution for violating the core principles of the party.

It amazes me that the most immoral group succeeds in coming across as the most moral.

The parents who show up at school-board meetings and read the rainbow garbage that these people attempt to foist on our children have discovered a way to rip the mask off. If only our Republican legislators were as brave.

The vote for this was NOT unanimous. Fifty-six Republicans voted NO. This blogger got his facts wrong.

Actually the 56 Republicans voiced their opposition after voting to pass the resolution. Please see the following as reported by Texas Scorecard on March 14:

Last week, the House unanimously voted for a package of nearly 200 resolutions that included a retroactive commemoration of Feb 14, 2023, as LGBTQ Chambers of Commerce Day at the Texas Capitol.

After voting to approve the bills, 56 members later stated their opposition to the resolution in journal statements—a way of stating opposition to the item without actually voting against it or affecting its passage.

Texas Scorecard is a reliable source, not a blog. Regards

I contacted my Rep and was given a list of 56 who voted NO, including her, so I will believe what a first hand person tells me.
