I’m on the San Francisco Peninsula and we NEVER see California Salmon in the markets. All we get is Atlantic Salmon (yuck) and occasionally Alaskan Salmon. So this isn’t going to change anything.

....trawlers are ‘scorched earth”ing the bottom of the sea and throwing back everything they can’t keep. the pollock and Mcfillet industries are throwing back THOUSANDS OF TONS of DEAD baby halibut and DEAD full sized chinooks.
They have already cancelled the king (chinook) salmon seasons across the state and have not let the native subsistance fisherd on the yukon/ kuskokwim take their kings for a few years.
The word for “Food” in yupik is the same word as “salmon.” It’s /#×*&:#÷ of the highest order. STOP trawlers is a big facebook page up here, Dunleavy and all the govt are in on the racket. ..

There’s a book out “Salmon Wars”. Been thinking’ bout checking it out at the library as I love the stuff so much. Safeway often has 7oz. filets for $5. They’re often 6 oz.
Add powdered iron to the waters offshore. That will stimulate algae which will stimulate small fish growth which will stimulate large fish growth. When it was tried off the coast of Washington, it produced the largest Salmon run in living memory.
Whales used to fertilize the oceans with their poop. They spread iron throughout the oceans. Now, they don’t.
I am confused.
Why would drought impact salmon ocean fishing?
Are they saying that drought has reduced the number of salmon spawn that reach the ocean, thus, the total population of ocean salmon is way down?
Do any Indian tribes have fishing rights in California? Can the state ban their harvests?
