Facebook parent company Meta on Tuesday announced it’s cutting around 10,000 employees in another bout of massive layoffs as the tech sector struggles with a fraught economy.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a message to employees that the company is restructuring to become leaner, laying off around 10,000 more workers and not filling 5,000 previously open roles. “Over the next couple of months, org leaders will announce restructuring plans focused on flattening our orgs, canceling lower priority projects, and reducing our hiring rates,” Zuckerberg said in a post.
Employees in recruiting will know if they’re impacted this week, tech roles will know in April and business roles will learn in May, according to Zuckerberg.

Not so terrifying as ridiculous. Tech is fat. Time for a trim. It has always amazed how out of control a company can get when times are good. Just think of how profitable they would be if they managed well all the time.

"Facebook, which in 2019 paid advertisers a $40 million settlement over inflated video-viewing metrics and is fighting a lawsuit over its "reach" to users, is now taking flak over its revelation this week that it took down 1.3 billion fake accounts during just three months last year."

Facebook is losing user views faster than it can shed employees.
I still use FB for the local marketplace, but my feed is boring and mostly advertising. None of my friends post anything meaningful anymore. Why bother if nobody sees your posts because you’ve been throttled.
Probably 10,000 pointless positions anyway. Upside is more unskilled workers for restaurants and WalMart.
I wonder how many of those laid off were fact checkers?
Facebook is for old people, like my parents....

#25 Google does the same kind of fraud as did Twitter.
Fake from number of users (stock fraud) to number of viewers (more fraud).
