Michigan Governor Admits Some COVID-19 Restrictions Didn’t ‘Make a Lot of Sense’

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer admitted over the weekend that Democrat leadership in the state imposed more COVID-19 lockdown measures than were actually needed.

In April 2020, Whitmer issued an executive order that barred most stores from selling gardening supplies, including seeds and plants, to Americans growing their own fruits and vegetables.

In a sit-down with CNN’s Chris Wallace on March 12, Whitmer was asked about Michigan’s tough lockdown policies, which were some of the nation’s most strict.

“There were moments where, you know, we had to make some decisions that in retrospect don’t make a lot of sense, right? If you went to the hardware store, you could go to the hardware store but we didn’t want people to be congregating around the garden supplies,” Whitmer said.

“People said ‘oh, she’s outlawed seeds.’ It was February in Michigan, no one was planting anyway,” she continued. “But that being said, some of those policies I look back and think, you know, maybe that was a little more than what we needed to do.”

On April 9, 2020, Whitmer’s office published a list on the state’s website that included items Michigan officials deemed “not necessary to sustain or protect life,” and thus could not be sold during the height of the pandemic.

The order stated that companies had to block areas of stores through various means or remove nonessential items, including gardening items, but also many other goods such as carpet or flooring materials, furniture, and paint.

Just weeks after Whitmer imposed the statewide controversial ban, the order was rescinded due to widespread backlash, including from the Institute for Justice.

In a letter (pdf), the non-profit law firm criticized the governor’s “unconstitutional prohibition” for “impeding the rights of the many Michigan families who seek to grow their own food.”

“The order correctly recognizes ‘food and agriculture’ as ‘critical infrastructure’ and accordingly permits grocery stores, restaurants, convenience stores, and other food-related businesses to continue sales, subject to reasonable health and safety restrictions,” the letter reads.

“At the same time, however, the order appears to prohibit sales of plants—including vegetable, fruit, and herb plants,” it added. “That differential treatment—permitting grocery stores to sell vegetables, fruits, and herbs, but prohibiting nurseries and garden centers from selling plants so that Michiganders can grow their own vegetables, fruits, and herbs—does not make sense.”

Whitmer’s sweeping order also included a ban on travel from one residence to another residence, including vacation properties, rental properties, or second properties inside Michigan.

DO NOT FORGET what they’ve done to you.
Do not let their sudden realization they are in bad shape politically excuse the last two-plus years of abuses.
They shut down your job.
Called many of you “non-essential.”
Closed your kids’ schools.
Expected you to live off $1200 for months while they got richer and richer.
Denied you the ability to be with your dying loved ones.
Then denied you the ability to give those loved ones a proper funeral.
While they let George Floyd have three.
While they went on vacation.
Visited family.
The hair salon.
They arrested you for paddle boarding by yourself.
They shut down the parks and the playgrounds.
They called you a grandma killer if you questioned them.
Suspended you from social media if you didn’t obey the narrative.

They called you domestic terrorists when you demanded your kids get the education your tax dollars paid for.
They mocked you when you demanded a return to normalcy for children.
They sneer at your concern over empty shelves and exploding grocery and utility bills.
They messed with supply chains and emptied store shelves, while the elites partied on yachts and Martha’s Vineyard.
They queered women’s sports and the military, and made the citizenry pay for it.
They sexualized schoolchildren, and persecuted parents at school board meetings.
They denied you the chance to try alternative treatments for COVID.
Then they fired you for not getting the vaccine.
When you stand up for your freedom, they call you Nazis and bigots.

Do not forget what they have done.
Do not forgive them.
They are hoping that, by November, you have forgotten the nightmareof the last 2+ years.
YOU struggle to make ends meet and the best the Biden administration can do is free crack pipes for “racial equity.”
This is on top of the woke, cancel culture bull they shove down our throats, the 2020 riots, being accused of racism and bigotry because we oppose their agenda.
As the election draws closer, they’ll pretend they didn’t do any of this.
They’ll gaslight us.
Project.
Blame the GOP (like they tried to when defunding the police went south).

DO NOT give them power.
They haven’t learned a damn thing from this.
You re-elect them, and you can expect masks and lockdowns and nonsense in perpetuity.
Not just for COVID, but for whatever else they deem a “public health emergency” (guns, climate change).
(Remember, they are the very same people who ignore a pubic health emergency aka AIDS.)
They will trample your rights.
VOTE THEM OUT.

NEVER FORGET.

REMEMBER…..each NOVEMBER!

This was never about public safety.

This was about control and making Klaus Schwab happy.

“The order stated that companies had to block areas of stores through various means or remove nonessential items, including gardening items, but also many other goods such as carpet or flooring materials, furniture, and paint.“

They closed our businesses. And those trying to look on the bright side of it thought - hmmm, I’ll start home repairs such as painting… NOPE. Well, then hey, good year to start a garden - NOPE.

She and the rest of our governmental idiots did this with hateful malice, sneering at us all the while… “we’ll make you miserable! We’ll show you who’s in charge of who!..”

Michigan Governor Admits Some COVID-19 Restrictions Didn’t ‘Make a Lot of Sense’

Well, she made sense with that statement.

But, she should've gone further and admitted that, just about everything she and fellow democrats do, make no sense either.

More like,

“To end the lockdown, wear a mask.”

Followed by

“To end the masks, get the vaccine”.

And then came Delta...

There was no “science” into the policies forced on the people by these politicians (Democrats and Replublicans... ie. Utah, Ohio, etc...). Politicians have no accountablity. The country is in dire straits.

Logic 101 for morons would make a lot of sense to Gretchen nobrain. (Obviously a DemocRAT). But those restrictions should have been obvious to the most casual observer (a fave phrase from my undergrad institution of torture).

Yes,mandatory shots were *wrong*.Cops, firemen, nurses who were fired for refusing shots should be rehired...with back pay.And mask mandates were very probably worthless.
