NBC News host Chuck Todd complained over the weekend that Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law “Victims of Communism Day” which teaches students in the state the far-left ideology’s murderous history.
Todd made the remark Sunday on “Meet the Press” while discussing remarks that DeSantis made in Las Vegas over the weekend.
“We’re also the first state in the country to establish every November 10th, the day in our schools is earmarked, to teach our students at all grade levels about the evils of Communist regimes throughout history,” DeSantis said. “We’re going to tell the truth about Marxism and Leninism.”
“I went to Florida public schools,” Todd declared, “We were taught this, it was called history. It just seems like a weird politicizing, you know, he’s going out of his way to politicize something.”

I’m so old I remember when the Dims pretended to hate communism.
High School Physics teacher: “Kids, perpetual motion machines don’t work. There is a long history of failure. If you understand the science, you can see why this idea cannot work.”
Chuck Todd: “Why are you politicizing physics?”
In before the DeSantis haters label this as some sort of deep state plot by the Florida governor. 😏
So he’s politicizing a political system? Dumb ass.
It was the Commies that politicized everything in the first place.
In the 60s-70s in FL all high school students were required to take the ‘Americanism vs Communism’ class (the actual title of the class, and the title of the text book). What DeSantis is doing is not new in FL, but DeSantis is the only governor in recent history with testicular fortitude to do this.
Let me get this straight....DeSantis is accused of “politicizing” a political ideology? That’s like criticizing Paula Deen of “cooking” a recipe.
I'm sure most ordinary Democrats did hate Communism.
Just as today many (most?) ordinary Republicans support gay marriage.
I remember reading that in 1964, Goldwater was actually talking about phasing out social security. Today, few Republicans would support that.
The entire culture is moving left.
Went to school in Florida myself chuckie boy and as a high school junior we were required to take a class called “Americanism v/s communism”......while students didn’t necessarily have to pass the class we had to be exposed to it.
Without a doubt THE most valuable class I ever took in high school.
Also, governor DeSantis is bringing back something similar to Florida classrooms.
Chuck Todd never opens his mouth without subtracting from the sum of human knowledge.
You posted while I was writing my post 10.
It should raise eyebrows when someone protests exposing communism for what it really is........should.
Every day thousands of math teathers are politicizing math - by teaching math.
You have to teach Communism and Socialism at the time.
“You know, we were taught this, it was called history. It just seems like a weird politicizing, you know, he’s going out of his way to politicize something.”
What Todd is saying kis that the record of communism was taught to him when he was in school and that DeSantis is tryng to make political points by instituting what is already in place.
I would never defend Todd, of course, but I would tend to believe that Todd is suffering from a generational lapse coupled with ignorance. It was taught to his generation but, unfortunately, it probably is not now but desperately needs to be. Modern leftist American education tilts to the opinion that American history is so sordid it is not fitting to try to distract from it by actually teaching history of other nations.
In the same vein:
High school history teacher: “In sum, the Nazis killed almost 12,000,000 people in their concentration camps, ranking them as one of the great evils of human history.”
Chuck Todd: “Why are you politicizing National Socialism?”
If only Georgia had a Governor with such backbone!
DeSantis ‘28!
ROFL!!!
You can’t “politicize” a political ideology.
And yet chuckles didn't learn a damn thing apparently.
