Shameful New York Times hit piece on Ron DeSantis reveals panic over his political appeal
American Thinker ^ | March 12, 2023 | Thomas Lifson

The New York Times ran a lengthy hit piece, titled, “Inside Ron DeSantis’s Politicized Removal of an Elected Prosecutor,” that demonstrates how fearful Democrats are of his appeal in an era when crime is on the mind of so many voters. So potent is the crime issue that President Biden and a significant number Congressional Democrats are overriding a soft-on-crime law passed the by the DC City Council over the veto of the District’s Mayor Muriel Bowser. Only a deep fear of voters’ wrath over spiraling crime would motivate these Democrats to anger their SJW pro-crime base.

Thus, it fell to two Times reporters, Alexandra Berzon (a veteran of left wing nonprofit Pro Publica) and Ken Benisnger (whose beat is “covering right-wing media”) to find fault with Governor DeSantis’s firing of a district attorney in Hillsborough County (Tampa) who had openly announced he would refrain from prosecuting certain crimes, in this case, crimes by “those who seek, provide or support abortions.”

Governor DeSantis has taken the completely justified position that if a DA wants laws to be effectively repealed, then the DA should run for the state legislature and change the law. It is not the job of a DA to change the law that exists by categorically exempting certain crimes from prosecution. But that is precisely what Andrew H. Warren of Hillsborough County did, and that is why DeSantis removed him from office last summer.

The fact that this article appeared many months after Warren’s firing, but shortly after crime became a defining issue of the 2024 election with the DC law override speaks volumes about the thinking of New York Times writers and editors.

“Shameful New York Times hit piece on Ron DeSantis reveals panic over his political appeal”

Again, this is TROLLING by the media in the sense that they’re trying to prop up DeSantis, now that Trump is pulling away from him (latest polling is terrible for DeSantis). Otherwise these hit pieces would have come out while DeSantis was gaining on Trump.

Also means DeSantis knows to fire all US prosecutors and only appoint people who will apply the law fairly in their place. Unlike Trump who kept a ton of corrupt prosecutors on.

After 4 more years of President Trump. And maybe 8 years of Desantis (personaly I'm hoping of 8 more years of Ivana Marie Trump).

Will the ny tymes still be in business?

Given that the venue for the piece is the NYT, it is a stretch to say that this is a multi-backflip message meant for anyone who would be voting in Rep primaries.

Anyone who may be reached THAT way is part of a tiny minority of the politically obsessed.

“Politically obsessed” describes many of us, here, but there are extremely few creatures of this description.

Yes. They’re now financed by the US Government, either directly and/or indirectly (through Big-Pharma advertising). Same with the news networks.

The two of you would have fired everyone.

Done everything. President. AG. Secretary of every cabinet, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, flew the F16s, steered the carriers, did the Direct Action with Delta, housed the homeless, fed the hungry…..all while figuring out how to get things done, like trade deals-securing the border-rebuilding the military-peace in the Middle East, since it was apparent, early on, that you weren’t getting help from anyone, especially Republicans in Congress that promised to help you.

As for the US Attorneys…..he was impeached for firing Comey and, more importantly, I think it would be more on the AG to speak with him about that and offer a solution. The one that talked the talk but chickened out on Day 1

Because DeSantis has turned FL into a woke stronghold?

The Uniparty played Trump for an unbelievable sappy rube. He was a babe in the woods dealing with these Uniparty (R) jackals. I can only assume Trump has learned his lesson and the days of Barr, Wray and Fauci are over. Assume you get RdS to DC, there will be learning curve for him. Will RdS denounce the Uniparty money men who will have to finance a very expensive winning campaign against Trump? I’ve seen a few decent people sent to DC. Very few are strong enough to resist the corruption of the swamp. We know for a fact Trump is not corrupt. Will he let the GOP co opt him again? I seriously doubt it.

Somewhere today I saw for the first time what they will repeat thousands of times: “The GOP will nominate Trump or a Trump-like type.”

Everyone is going to be “Trump-like” “Trump style” or “just another Trump.”
To dimwits: “Oh, no.”
To millions of good people: “Hooray.”

But...
Ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby.
Nothing like the real thing.

They hate Trump. They fear DeSantis.

The rest of the Republicans don’t matter to them.

DeSantis is a threat to their stranglehold on power, and so they have to destroy him, like the filthy partisans that they are. The attacks will increase a thousand fold as soon as he officially announces.

They trashed Trump with made up lies, and will do the same for DeSantis.

“Fake news. There is no panic. They want him to run.”

If that were the case, they’d end the investigations and likely indictments, and people like Pence would be silenced.

* * *

Sometimes a President is forced to compromise to achieve other worthy goals. Especially a President who openly is advocating a big change in Washington. It’s a delicate game that only a person with deep experience in politics and large organizations can succeed at.

You didn’t mention selecting RINO Pence as VP. But as history is now showing, Pence is very much a RINO and enabled January 6th to become an issue.

In the end, you have to ask yourself: did Trump achieve some worthy things as President regardless of the road blockers in power? And yes, he succeeded on many fronts. We desperately need him at the helm of State again.

Trump achieved some impressive things during his presidency. ALL of which Biden executive ordered into oblivion the first week after his installation. Other than the lasting changes at VA, nothing is left of Trump’s successes. What cost Trump an unstealable majority of votes was listening to the traitorous Uniparty (R) Judases in 2020. “No, you can’t go against science. No, you can’t fire Fauci. No, you can’t fire the coup kingpins, Barr and Wray. You must DO SOMETHING on the warp speed vaxx. If not, you’ll be impeached again and again or the electorate will revolt on your handling of the scamdemic.” All lies and BS that Trump was stupid enough to believe. I can only believe that he realizes EVERYTHING DC GOP convinced him to do in 2020 blew up in his face just as was planned. Trump can be elected and can save the Republic only if he totally denounces the DC GOP. In his new administration he better have zero people who have any experience in DC, for they have all been co opted into the Uniparty and have one goal, destroy MAGA.

Correction. They hate Trump. They love DeSantis. The New York Times is channeling Br’er Rabbit. Please, oh please don’t nominate DeSantis. He scares us. He’s even worse than Trump!
