Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) called for gender-neutral bathrooms in schools on Thursday, in response to a town hall question from a transgender Virginia teenager.
“Look at me. I am a transgender man,” Niko, a 17-year-old from Arlington, Va., said at a CNN town hall. “Do you really think that the girls in my high school would feel comfortable sharing a restroom with me?”
Youngkin, who issued a series of restrictive guidelines to Virginia schools last fall related to transgender students, said on Thursday that it was important to accommodate students.
“That’s why I have said many, many times, we just need extra bathrooms in schools,” he said. “We need gender-neutral bathrooms and so people can use the bathroom that they, in fact, are comfortable with.”
Youngkin’s guidelines would require transgender students to participate in activities and use school facilities that align with the sex they were assigned at birth. It would also make it more difficult for students to change their name or gender presentation at school.
However, the suggestion that transgender students can use gender-neutral bathrooms in response to such restrictions faces legal challenges elsewhere in the country.
Several transgender students in Oklahoma are suing the state over such a policy, which required them to use “a single-occupancy restroom or changing room” if they declined to use facilities matching their sex assigned at birth under a new law.
Youngkin generally doubled down on several of his controversial education policies at the town hall, including barring transgender athletes from participating in sports that match their gender identity and forbidding the instruction of “inherently divisive concepts, including critical race theory,” which is an academic framework that examines the influence of racism on institutions.
If these idiots don’t want to look out of place in the bathroom then don’t look out of place.
It is scary that folks supposedly on our side can’t figure out this stuff.
The transgender agenda needs to be crushed.

XX or XY bathrooms and sports would greatly curtail this lunacy.
Hospitals have gone this route. However they have so many single use ones that lines are not a problem. Wait until people have to wait an hour to use the bathroom. It won’t end well.

The criticism here is not merited by his statements. It is not a fail.
He would require transgenders to participate in all activities according to their sex at birth.
The extra “transgender” bathroom he would provide them is what we would call “a bathroom”. Just a single use extra bathroom that anyone can use.
He does NOT want all bathrooms to be transgender. Far from it.
The transgenders oppose this suggested solution.
You really care? You’ve probably walked by trannies unaware. Bathrooms where anyone can use them and there is no expectation that you are with someone the same gender (male or female) doesn’t seem like the hill to die on. The country is quite messed up...not the biggest problem. I get it, we shouldn’t cater to the mentally ill but washrooms...? Meh

Single use unisex ADA compliant restrooms could be a good idea, but the exhibitionist and voyeur communities will be offended. The hustle never ends
I cannot emphasize strongly enough that he is NOT being squishy. The headline is misleading, and transgenders don’t want what he is offering.

He should run for Senate in 2024.
He’s simply suggesting an extra single use bathroom no one would share it at the same time. Not even remotely a problem.

Agree. How difficult is it to look between one’s legs? This LGBT BS is no friend of females. And this transgender crap is whacko. No insurance company should pay for any trans -operation.
Glenn Youngkin is from the business world a moderate dare I say a Davos Republican.
I watched the whole thing. 60+ minutes. Pandered to everybody-pathetic. Kissed butt throughout. Answered every question by thanking the questioner for the question and then went on to say very little. Audience questioners were a set up. The ‘transgender’ student went out of his way to look androgynous. Played victim. Younkin could not bring himself to say his job is to teach the 3 R’s and to take his package issues up with his(her) parents. Just plain buttressing. No leadership.
No way he moves up to higher office. I just wouldn’t vote if he were nominated.
Other people’s mental disorders- induced by the trans industrial complex - do not automatically require my assistance or sympathy.
