Former President Donald Trump revealed today that Richard Nixon’s “biggest regret” was giving in to GOP pressure to resign during the Watergate impeachment crisis, a move the 45th president said he wouldn’t have made.
“His daughter actually told me that his biggest regret was that he didn't fight, he should have fought,” Trump said, without identifying which daughter. But, he added, Nixon lacked the public support needed to carry on.
“I'm not sure that that had an impact one way or the other,” he said, had Nixon resisted.
In a media roundtable to discuss the April 25 release of the president’s second post-presidency book, Letters to Trump, Secrets asked about his relationship with Nixon shown over 25 letters included in the book published by Winning Team Publishing, founded by Donald Trump Jr. and adviser Sergio Gor.

I believe with the technology available today things would have turned out different.
It was his second term, and he could have fought tooth and nail. He gave up because he was a quitter. He never fought even though he knew he won the Presidency in 1960. Imagine the difference if Nixon was in from 1961-69? Without LBJ selling out the country with his social justice see are a p and the Welfare. Goldwater could have followed until 77, then Reagan without Bush itter 1... From there it gets iffy... Who was a natural Conservative instead of Bush? How about Bob Dornan? That would have been a kick, running for President, or better yet, Speaker of the House.
He never quit - WE let him down. That should have.been a call to arms. But nobody dared confront the deep state.
I stayed home hoping his lawyers would challenge the results. Then I hoped the swing state legislators would challenge it. Then I hoped the SC would do the right thing.
When they didn’t, we all should have take up arms and demanded an audit. Then, when millions of people went to DC, I didn’t go…
There were millions there in DC, but it should have been a hundred million…
I didn’t go - you didn’t go… it’s our fault those people are in prison and Biden is in the White House - of Trump’s fault.
His job was to win the election, which he did - it’s our job to make sure the election is fairly counted.
We let him down.
She was based in DC area, she probably had CIA and FBI people coming to her for readings and they spilled a little of the beans.
I at one time thought the same thing. It seems to me that the Pentagon was against Trump but the ones for him were forever in foreign lands. Hmmmmm, I wonder why so many of the smartest, strongest and honest men are always out of the country fighting for others????
Thank you for this.
I’ve been humbled. You’re right. I thought this when it happened, but when the hammer dropped I stayed home.
“…but when the hammer dropped I stayed home.”
You and me both, FRiend.
In our defense, we’ve been subjected to some grade-A brainwashing all our lives:
“Violence is never the answer.” It’s simply not true.
I’ll tell you perhaps not the only difference in our situations compared to those who would travel across the country to throw molotov cocktails at adoption agencies..
.. we love our children. I probably will not leave my home at the first Salvo, unless it’s very local. People like us believe it’s these times when it is most important to be with our families and our kids.
I know the moment I pick up a stone, my kids life and mine will be very different. It terrifies me.
I’m the same - and I’m 70.
The problem I see with that attitude (which I am ashamed to say I share) is that it has been carefully cultivated in us by the would-be tyrants. The fear that they have instilled in us is no different than a mob guy guy telling us what a nice family we have and what a shame it would be if something were to happen.
Fear mongering works, unfortunately.
Another tactic besides fear mongering is the way they brainwash our friends and family to believe fighting back is stupid and futile - that makes us feel alone and unsure.
A third is to brainwash everyone into believing the threats we feel are not real - that if we believe the election was stolen, we are just conspiracy nutcases wearing tinfoil hats.
All three methods work, which is why we feel our hands are tied.
But ironically, the reason we are reluctant to fight (to protect our children) is exactly why we should fight (to protect our children).
“I tell you I was ready on January 20 2021 to drop what I was doing and take everything I had to form ranks in a civil war.”
Then why didn’t you do just that at the moment that Pelosi and her fellow conspirators literally stole the election by declaring an emergency shut-down to the proceedings on Jan 6?
That was the moment the country was stolen—and you did nothing.
Watergate looks pale in comparison to the shenanigans other Democrats have done over the years.
It showed the power of having the media in their corner.
Oh wait, that never happened.
Look at this dood ^.
It’s a good thing you were ‘ready’ though.
