Former president Donald Trump has been invited by the Manhattan district attorney to appear next week before a grand jury investigating his business affairs, an offer that is mandatory under state law but may mark a significant development years after the start of the probe, three people with knowledge of the proceedings said Thursday.

I thought that grand juries used things like “subpoenas”.
He can’t be compelled to testify, so yes, it’s an offer.
Of course, they’d gladly break him on the rack, if they could get away with it legally. Pesky constitution!
He’s probably made his statements. Only plus might be if
one or more of the jury was moved by his in-person persona.
I’d think of it to be yet another opportunity for them to
drum up some sort of conflicting testimony charge.

I’d wager that he’d want to attend but that his lawyers would strongly advise against it. There can be no doubt that DJT will be charged with *something* by *someone*. Georgia...NYC...Albany...or DC.
