Trump Lawyer Admits to Falsehoods in 2020 Fraud Claims
New York Times ^ | March 9th 2023 | Alan Feuer

Jenna Ellis, a lawyer who represented President Donald J. Trump after his loss in the 2020 election, admitted in a sworn statement released on Wednesday that she had knowingly misrepresented the facts in several of her public claims that widespread voting fraud led to Mr. Trump’s defeat.

The admissions by Ms. Ellis were part of an agreement to accept public censure and settle disciplinary measures brought against her by state bar officials in Colorado, her home state. Last year, the officials opened an investigation of Ms. Ellis after a complaint from the 65 Project, a bipartisan legal watchdog group.

The group accused her of professional misconduct in her efforts to help Mr. Trump promote his claims of voting fraud and undertake “a concerted effort to overturn the legitimate 2020 presidential election results.” An earlier complaint about Ms. Ellis had been filed by a lawyer, Benjamin Woods.

According to the sworn statement on Wednesday, some of Ms. Ellis’s lies about election fraud were made during appearances on Fox News, several of whose top hosts and executives were recently shown to have disparaged Mr. Trump’s fraud claims in private even though they supported them in public. The revelations about these discrepancies have emerged in a series of court filings by Dominion Voting Systems, a voting-machine company that filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox for promoting a conspiracy theory about its role in the election results.

Ms. Ellis, part of the so-called elite strike force of lawyers that took to the air and traveled across the country in support of Mr. Trump’s false claims of fraud, is also embroiled in the Justice Department’s investigation of the former president’s sprawling efforts to reverse his loss to Joseph R. Biden Jr. As part of the investigation — which was taken over in November

Ah, Ellis, the incompetent lawyer who worked with Rudy Giuliani. I’m not sure if they were grifting or just delusional, but it’s hard to believe these 2 were acting as competent lawyers. At least Rudy can blame age and alcohol. Add in Sidney Powell and Lin Wood, and it was a virtual clown show. I remember all the people saying “wait for discovery!”

Something called the Trump Accountability Project threatened to blackball any and all Trump attorneys. This was supposedly disbanded after it accomplished it’s purpose.

The same best and brightest couldn’t get to Gitmo fast enough to defend scum of the earth.

Regarding WI and PA (whom had ten times as many first time voters >=65 ) than ever before-the nursing home employees voting for invalids at the behest of the WI Election commission, was investigated, referred for prosecution and ignored by the Dems in power. (as far as the last that I have read on the matter)

This is what life is like as second class citizen in a totalitarian regime.

A plea deal is legal extortion, no matter which side offers one.

One other thing of note-

recent testimony by Ruby Freeman that contradicted the narrative has been completely ignored. I think that she testified 1)FBI told her to erase her social media and did nothing else in the way of investigating her 2)She told the FBI of improprieties and they did nothing.

This is 100% opposite of the narrative-yet if one searches her name, tens of millions of hits with the fake narrative=exactly one containing the most recent testimony.

Makes you wonder what is driving all this.

Has China paid everyone off? Has Soros?

What dirt do they have on people in the Republican party?

Things like that are far more tangible but instead we got a lot of wild eyed conspiracies the press was able to latch into to paint anyone have any questions about it as nuts. Completely lost control of the messaging...yet again. You have to be very specific in bullet points or the press can simply eat you alive.

I will say that I do not think Trump’s attorney’s were up to snuff after the 2020 election.

This absolutely correct. Trump didn't utilize, or didn't have access to, the army of top notch lawyers and election watchers the GOP has at its disposal. Instead, he had a small group of grifters, amateurs and clowns. Contrast to the 2000 election where lawyers were on the ground in battleground states and districts well before the counting, and aggressively used the courts to challenge dem fraud. Trump can draw huge grass roots support, but lawyers like Giuliani, Ellis and Powell will not win against the legal sharks the dems put up.

Re: 22 - Agreed.

Ellis should be thankful with the disciplinary action she received. She stupidly cackled the claims she made in the media and then scooted off when those claims had to be proven.

Just a crappy lawyer that was in over her head on the election issue.

It is infuriating.

The reality is Obama was an awful POTUS but an incredible boost for the GOP. Between 2010 and 2016 Dems lost over 1000 net elections, which is a record by 500 for party losses under any two term POTUS. In 2016, the GOP held record or near records state legislatures, governor seats......etc obv incl Trump beating Silicon Valley, Wall St, Hollywood, the MSM and basically 90% of industry and institution colluding against him.

The Dem party was headed to becoming a boutique party of the coastal elites.

If not for shenanigans, the Dem agenda would’ve been soundly repudiated already and all of this anti Americanism would’ve been put back in the bottle.

It was embarrassing to watch Rudy, Powell and Ellis try to explain the election fraud. Yes, I believe there was election fraud. But enough to throw the election? We'll never know because President Trump's legal team was simply not up to the job in the states where they knew there could be problems. And certainly was not up to the job post-election.

The link below is proof of fraud. Ruby Freeman admits it. If they did it in Georgia, they did everywhere else. I don’t know why our side is running away from this.

The most telling aspect of this farce is the allegation that Ellis lied about Hillary Clinton not conceding the 2016 election. This statement deceived no one. Hillary formally conceded the election, then spent the next four years saying that the Russians stole it from her. Ellis’ statement is normal political hyperbole, which politicians with law licenses engage in all the time and no one questions them.

Those who have surmised this to save her license have it right. She could live with this result so she took the plea. Nothing more to it than that, as others have said.
