Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was hospitalized Wednesday night after suffering a fall while at a private dinner at a Washington, D.C., hotel.
The extent of McConnell's injuries is not known at this time, but a spokesperson for the senator told Punchbowl News that McConnell is currently receiving treatment after his trip.
The 81-year-old senator was at an event at the Waldorf Astoria D.C. when he fell, according to the news source.
Democratic Sens. John Fetterman (PA) and Dianne Feinstein (CA) have been hospitalized in recent weeks, with Fetterman seeking treatment for depression and Feinstein for shingles.
Feinstein tweeted on Tuesday that she is recovering at home.
In October 2020, McConnell dismissed concerns about his health after a photo surfaced online of his hands bruised and discolored. In 2019, McConnell fell at his Kentucky home, fracturing his shoulder.
“I’ll bet the Dems are ecstatic.”
They’re not. He’s too valuable to them.
Mitch will probably be in a bed right next to Fetterman for “depression” and the Senate marches on
Good one!
Yeah... he won’t be back, I’ll bet.
Maybe he fell and broke a hip, or snapped a hip and then fell. My mom did the latter the day after her 98th birthday in August.
No comment....
A maga leg out in the isle did the trick
Drunk?
He’ll be back. He’s a roach.
It could have been vertigo. I had a few episodes of it last year, and I’m only 68.
Well played!
GOOD ON YOU! You’ve got good genes, plus you take good care of yourself- a winning combination!
I’m 68, had transplant surgery a year and a half ago, doing great, go for energetic walks in warmer weather.
I do need to do more to lose a little weight. No more alcohol for me, it messes with my meds, but I don’t miss it.
Thanks for the great advice!👍
Tripped over the truth.
Think strategically. Retire from leadership to sit as a back bench placeholder, perhaps. NOT time YET to retire from Senate. Wait about 10 months for that. If he retires now the current KY Dem governor, who allegedly ran the first big stolen election back in ‘19, appoints the replacement. KY Gov is up this fall. If the mostly red state can beat the cheat then, Mitch could retire next January and be replaced by some kind of Republican. If you want Mitch’s replacement to be a good Republican then run a good one for Gov this fall and back him hard.
Clint has taught us...... Don’t let the old man in
....speaking of old people falling, my friend of 47 years died Dec. 17, 2022.
He was in great shape for an 80 year old person but simply walking down a sidewalk at his home he fell and hit his head.
About 12 hours later, he died. So, at this point, there is no telling what is going on with McConnell.
At 82 I used to ski and think I still could. Ride bike, do yoga, planks, mat work, weights etc daily. Eat pretty well, do some drinking, can get up easily were I to fall but rather stay upright and alert.
