Fresh off his huddling with donors last week, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is teeing up a jammed-pack week as he seemingly lays down the groundwork for a 2024 bid.
DeSantis will deliver his hotly anticipated State of the State address to the Florida legislature, which is set to convene Tuesday, and start his mad dash to wrangle through a bevy of big-ticket items. Then, DeSantis will close off the week with a trip to the early primary state of Iowa to promote his new book.
"Gov. DeSantis has said he is going to have the most productive and successful legislative session yet," Javier Manjarres, a political consultant and publisher of the Floridian, told the Washington Examiner.
"Constitution Carry will pass," he added. "The Governor is focused on Education reform and appears to be poised to extend Parental Rights in Education to K-8, and protect children from being mutilated during sex reassignment procedures."
The governor's State of the State speech will be the first of his second term after he locked down a nearly 20-percentage-point victory in the 2022 midterm elections. The speech is expected to broach national issues as well as the various state items he is pursuing — similar to his inauguration address.
Perhaps the most significant item of business DeSantis is pursuing is an adjustment to the state's "resign to run" law that would compel him to step down from office if he opts to embark on a presidential campaign.
The legislative session will likely serve as a prelude to DeSantis's possible 2024 campaign. DeSantis previously indicated that after the legislature wraps up, which it is set to do around May, he can decide on 2024.

Let me educate you. That was months ago when he was running for Governor and he didn’t want resources being taken away from his reelection campaign. It had nothing to do with his 2024 decision.

How do you rationalize the fact that DeSantis voted for TPP, which would have submerged the United States into a trade cartel that would have completely, completely ended, American sovereignty. Now, was an action.
When he ran for governor, he got Trump to pull his ass over the finish line, now he acts like he has never heard of Trump.

DeSantis is obviously running for president.
But it’s not obvious that he’s running in 2024. Plenty of very shady people are encouraging him to challenge Trump, but so far he doesn’t seem to have taken the bait.
Skipping CPAC might be an indication that he’s somewhat cool to a run this cycle, plus he’s only 44 years old, he’s got plenty of time.
But speaking of CPAC, the grass roots types are clearly still with Trump. The political “professionals” (consultants, pollsters, fundraisers, and other grifters) were the only significant group in the DeSantis camp. It won’t be boring, that’s for certain.
Educate yourself, Florida doesn’t allow voter fraud. Educate yourself, Floridians love him, good. There’s no way he can win nationally with the amount of fraud in the past two election cycles. So please, educate yourself.
Yes. I believe Trump is winning easily. He’s the equivalent of an incumbent.
