CHICAGO (WLS) -- Shootings in Chicago this weekend have left at least 17 people shot, four fatally, police said.
A teen boy was killed in a Sunday night shooting on Chicago's South Side, police said. The shooting happened in the Chatham neighborhood's 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue at about 9:50 p.m.,, police said. A 17-year-old boy was found outside, lying on the ground. The victim, shot multiple times in the torso, was transported to UIC Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Hours earlier, a man was shot and killed In the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, police said. The shooting happened around 1:16 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Calumet Avenue. Police said a 31-year-old man was shot in the face and body. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Another man has been identified after he was fatally shot on Chicago's South Side on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
A man was fatally shot on Chicago's North Side on Friday night, Chicago police said. The shooting happened in the Rogers Park neighborhood's 7500 block of North Damen Avenue at about 8:51 p.m., police said. Officers responded to a call of a person shot, and found an unresponsive 37-year-old man inside a residence. The victim, shot in the head.
Last weekend, 14 people were shot, three fatally, in gun violence across the city, police said.

Perhaps these shootings were the unfortunate results of celebratory gunfire. Surely these former/future kings would not direct harm at one another.

Uh, “they” are still ‘mare’ until the run-off and swearing in of the new “D” mare. Not sure of the change in, uh, leadership(?) date though. Surely things will improve after that.
In looking at Chicago’s murder map this morning, I note that nearly all the murders are concentrated in one, relatively small, area.
One argument is just let the marxist/socialist Chicago Pols continue to do nothing. I would be ok with that except some very young kids are getting bullets in the head while doing their homework or playing outside.
So, assuming ADULTS might want to take over this area someday soon, it’s going to take the following to stop the slaughter (791 last year):
This concentrated area must be put under martial law on a semi permanent basis. This means military squads (usually 4-8 people) do two things: 1. stop suspicious males and search them for guns 2. Search individual homes and cars for guns. 3. 5 year automatic sentence for persons found carrying guns or in possession of guns illegally.
I’m big on the 2nd amendment but the foregoing is the only way the slaughter in this small well defined area is going to be stopped.
The amazing thing about modern western liberals, which are really just old school socialists, is that no amount of failure, no empiric evidence, not even common sense changes their mind.
They make fun of others for their religious beliefs, yet they are the ones that cling to their big government solutions which are riddled with corruption, inefficiency, and always end up failing - ALWAYS.
Chicago like California is a great example of where liberal thinking leads you.
But... when liberals fail, according to their reasoning, it is always because we simply needed even more of the same to make it work. We simply didn’t go far enough, and that is why it failed. Had we forced more people to vaccinate, more people to mask up, taken away more guns, forced more kids into public schools, gone to even further extremes with Obama care, subsidized the public transit system even more, censored more, increased the minimum wage even more, had even more quota’s for minorities... it somehow would have ended up working. In their mind, socialism (big government and centralized planning) always fails because we simply didn’t do enough of it.
Those are rookie numbers, with the cold and rain they had this weekend the city sport of shooting at one another for fun is way down.
Just wait until the heat hits combined with some perceived racist act or gang/drug kerfuffle to see the cities true colors shining through.

We should not be under any delusions. This is coming to america in general. The goal of the ‘socialists’ is to turn every town into ‘chicago’. When americans become sick of the lawlessness that the socialist advocate they will demand the military squads. Which the socialists will be more than pleased to provide. You’ll have socialist peace.

Looking at Heyjackass’ numbers, February kill numbers were
way down at only 44. That is at least 12 below their normal 2 a day average.

I think your statement above is your flaw in an otherwise pretty good writing.
Your assertion about “Americans demanding....” is on point. I think we already are there.
........yes, but existing police forces are over-whelmed and pissed off and carrying around some attitude after years of almos total abuse. Moreover, local police forces are “controlled” by politicians like Lori Lightfoot and Nancy Pelosi.
The only way you are going to bring down the murder rate to near nothing is military style FORCE, unfettered or influenced by LOCAL politicians, judges, lawyers and democratic operatives. That means military and martial law paid for by Chicago taxpayers who caused it all anyway by voting democrat for the past many decades.
If I wanted my town being run by Socialists thugs... 🤓
Still shy of that all important 25% mark. I would recommend more range time, and holding your firearm with the sights at the top, for starters. C’mon guys, 50% is not that hard to achieve.
