Sununu predicts Trump won’t be 2024 GOP nominee: ‘That’s just not going to happen’

Gov. Chris Sununu (R-N.H.), a potential 2024 contender, on Sunday predicted that former President Trump, who’s running for another White House term, won’t be the GOP’s nominee when it comes the presidential primaries.

“As far as a former President Trump, I think he’s going to run – obviously he’s in the race. He’s not going to be the nominee. That’s just not going to happen,” Sununu said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said last week that she expects the party will ask candidates participating on the GOP debate stage to sign a pledge saying they’ll support whoever eventually clinches the nomination – something Trump himself hasn’t firmly agreed to.

It is very unlikely that the GOP in its present form will allow Trump to be the nominee.

Then the GOP dies, and a new movement rises from the ashes.

You ain’t wrong.

I may have missed it, but have the Republican’s or any other Republican aligned group sued the current administration about any of the nonsense it’s been doing? The border or what was the border?

Still not sure why other Republican states are not looking into the Tennessee lawsuit over Medicaid/Medicare for the refugees and illegals. At the end of the day we still pay. But I think way too many people are under the impression that the Fed’s pay for everything. They don’t. They may pick up the tab for a little bit, but those costs end up being dumped on the state taxpayers, whether they like it or not. Tenn tried to sue. Had a great suit, but of course a hack judge said they “had no standing” and tossed the case.

The Republican Party is dead, it’s a matter of what replaces it.

The Deep State will never again allow Trump to run for POTUS as the GOP candidate even if he wins the GOP nomination.

“. . . Ronna McDaniel said last week that she expects the party will ask candidates participating on the GOP debate stage to sign a pledge saying they'll support whoever eventually clinches the nomination . . .”

Why? The GOP doesn't require its senators to support a duly elected Republican president.

Several GOP senators, as I recall, joined with Dems and voted to impeach a Republican president.

That senator from Utah is still in office and treated by party officials as an equal.

And, that is why a DeSantis/Trump 2024 ticket is perfect.

He’s not going to be the nominee. That’s just not going to happen [interpretation: because we Never-Trumpers and our radical democrat allies will make sure he loses every primary, everywhere.]

No they would all take it knowing that if Trump was the nominee, they would not support him. That is the ethics of the Rino class like Bush, Sununu etc.

“I believe Pence has said he would not support Trump. So is Trump the only one who has to take a pledge?”

What dies Pence have to do with anything?

I agree with the first half there, but unfortunately not with the second half. Politics is all about money - big money - these days. Corporate money, union money, wealthy individuals money.

I can’t see how a new conservative party would be able attract enough money to get off the ground. Plus that party wouldn’t get any free publicity. All the big boys (Fox, CBS, etc.) would ignore them.

My hope (and it’s a slender one) is that another Ronald Reagan appears.

Side note: At first I thought that person might be Sarah Palin. Then I thought it might be Donald Trump. But in both those cases the dice didn’t land the right way. So I’m still hoping.

Sununu and all these others don’t even consider to try to think why Trump is still as popular as he is. They just don’t get that their time is past, and that even if folks who may be unhappy with Trump’s behavior as of late, will never go back to the old GOP. They failed to read the tea leaves.

Sununu is an autocratic, deep state sh!tstick that uses police to arrest citizens at open government meetings.

That's not true at all. I used to be a rabid Trump supporter myself, going back to before 2016. I still have the highest regard for many Trump supporters here, who I believe just want the best for America, and see Trump as that best option.

However most of them also share my concerns about how Trump handled the scamdemic, and the vaccines, and the lack of doing anything to actually secure elections, and even post their concerns about those issues. They're just willing to go as far as I have, and look even deeper into Trump, and eventually decide we're better off without him.

That may or may not ever happen for them, but I will still like and respect many of them. I just don't see any great future for Trump, or our party if he remains the supposed leader.
