Gov. Chris Sununu (R-N.H.), a potential 2024 contender, on Sunday predicted that former President Trump, who’s running for another White House term, won’t be the GOP’s nominee when it comes the presidential primaries.
“As far as a former President Trump, I think he’s going to run – obviously he’s in the race. He’s not going to be the nominee. That’s just not going to happen,” Sununu said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said last week that she expects the party will ask candidates participating on the GOP debate stage to sign a pledge saying they’ll support whoever eventually clinches the nomination – something Trump himself hasn’t firmly agreed to.

Wow, Deja Vu. The experts were saying the same thing leading up to the 2016 primaries. They don’t offer any reasoning behind their supposition that DJT won’t be the nominee, just that “it’s not gonna happen”. They’re either clairvoyant or democrat ballot harvesters.
He thinks his fellow blue-blood-ers still control everything.
I predict Sununu, Bush, Christie, et. al. will not be the Republican nominee in 2024.
The GOPe plans on stealing the nomination from Trump during the primaries. You heard it here first.
Don’t the voters decide that? Aren’t they the party? Or is the party really just a handful of professional politicians and political operatives and big donors?
> Whoever gets the most primary votes gets the nomination. <
You’d think so. Does some shadowy Republican committee somewhere have the power to overturn that? It would be nice if some knowledgeable Freeper would weigh in on this.
The Republican Party is dead. They have nothing to offer to the voters anymore. They have become just like democrats. I hear nothing from those scum GOP senators actually getting off their pampered asses and getting out there and fighting for the people instead of voting in ways that line their pockets from donors and special interests.
I am not going back to voting for big mouth liars who make promises they NEVER INTEND to deliver on to get elected because they sound better than the RATs.
I do not feel at all bad anymore for not voting for the best of the worst.
Well, yes and no.
The two political parties are not membership, representative organizations, they do not exist in the Constitution, and they are more or less free to run their affairs as they choose.
We are still, on paper, a representative republic. We could, in theory, still have Legislatures and a Congress with zero Democrats and zero Republicans.
My tagline used to be "America will never be free until D+R are <218 in the House and <50 in the Senate".
So, whether or not you are a "registered" Republican or Democrat, you have no Constitutional or statutory right to be represented in the choice of a Presidential nominee. The value of your party membership is, as my grandma used to say, "That and a nickel will get you on the subway".
That being the case - if you think the GOP is going to conduct its affairs from today through July 2024 in a manner that allows ANY POSSIBILITY of Donald Trump being their nominee - you are out of your mind.
I actually agree with that. The GOP, no matter who runs, is going to lose and the RATs know it. All the infighting will just give the RATs the excuse they need to explain their win.
No.
Aren’t they the party?
No.
Or is the party really just a handful of professional politicians and political operatives and big donors?
Yes.
They wont have a choice. The party cannot ignore the mans base. Unless hes in jail hell be the nominee
No one reads your yellow urinalism anymore.
Wow. How did he ever come up with that idea? This man is a genius! A real statesman.
who sees Trump as a closet liberal, who was fully exposed during the covid scamdemic, then his grifting of $250M that was donated to him to secure elections that he used on self promotion instead.
I don't think so.
In 16, the GOP wanted him in the primaries for the money he brought to the table and to be the foil for JEB. Then he started winning!
This time around, the Republican Party doesn't even want him on the primary ballots. How they attempt to accomplish that remains to be seen, but get the corn ready. Wholebunchalotta poppin' comin'.
Sununu got his job because of his daddy... and it shows.
