I’d rather that standard time be made permanent.

Perhaps the most useful thing he has done.

How about we split it? Half the year it’s standard, and the other half . . .
Oh, wait.

For the life of me I can’t think of a thing he’s done.
To: nickcarraway
I’ve always heard conflicting things, as to whether daylight time saves energy or not. That’s supposed to be one reason to have daylight time.
To: JonPreston
He prevented Charlie Crist from becoming a Senator.

I agree. If they make dst permanent, get used to the sun coming up at 8:30am in the winter. If they make standard time permanent, sunrise at 4:30am in the summer. Unless people think they are getting an extra hour of daylight in the winter. In that case, they’re idiots.

All the problems in the world solved so now Congress takes on day light saving time.
Makes sense to me.

Bad idea. But it’s good to know that everything else is squared away in Washington so they can spend time on this.
To: nickcarraway
If they made Daylight Saving Time permanent, everybody would eventually get used it, though of course there are some people that would pitch and moan about anything. But nobody ever gets used to setting their stupid clocks back and forward twice a year. It’s moronic. I’d say good riddance.

I’d rather that standard time be made permanent.
The United Stated tried permanent daylight savings time in 1974-1975, but people didn't like it. In the winter, it was dark too late in the morning. There was morning rush hour traffic and kids were going to school in pitch black darkness.
To: GreyFriar
Exactly. The last time someone tried to make DST all year round, the people revolted. It just doesn't work!
Keep standard time.

I prefer daylight time, but I would be fine with springing forward only 1/2 hour and just leaving it there for good. Something for everybody.
