The GOP is traditionally thought of as the party of faith, freedom and family, which is why it’s embarrassing when New York City’s Democratic Mayor Eric Adams has more of a spine than most Republican leaders.
Adams’ chief adviser Ingrid Lewis-Martin introduced the mayor Tuesday during an interfaith breakfast, saying the Adams administration “does not believe” it must “separate church from state.”
Adams doubled down on the idea, saying, “Don’t tell me about no separation of church and state. State is the body, church is the heart. You take the heart out of the body, the body dies. I can’t separate my belief because I’m an elected official.”
“When I walk, I walk with God. When I talk, I talk with God. When I put policies in place, I put them in with a God-like approach to them — that’s who I am,” he added, going on to attribute a spike in crime to a lack of faith.
Adams also said the next generation is being destroyed because they have not been instilled with “some level of faith and belief.”
He predictably drew rebuke from those on the left, who decried his comments as unconstitutional because of the alleged “separation of church and state.”
But that’s the thing: There is no such thing as a constitutionally mandated separation of church and state.
Jefferson wrote a letter in 1802, known as the “Danbury Baptist Letter,” in which he assured religious leaders the government would not encroach upon their religious liberties.

What a semi-truck load of pure, undistilled garbage. He is a corrupt racist grifter. Hired his own brother on the city payroll as “security” because he claimed he couldn’t trust anyone else. Likes to party with celebs, hence his nickname “Mayor Swagger”. Trying to screw over city retirees and replace their guaranteed health insurance with inferior Medicare Advantage. Talks a good game, delivers nothing.
“In God We Trust” is woven into culture - and it belongs in our Government and our school libraries.
The problem is the pinko-Dim god, is moloch. SO when they mix church and state, it has devastating consequences.
Yes, this is all just a smokescreen. Like every other Democrat leader, Adams knows how to say the right things to the right people. But his actions prove otherwise.
And I believe it when Pelosi says she’s a devout Catholic.
Is there anything more disgusting than a prayer breakfast?
Hizzoner here is explaining why he likes to steer NYC contracts to pastors who’ll deliver the votes. Didn’t we know that already?

Democrats who "wear their faith on their sleeves" in public forums like this are little more than duplicitous hucksters selling a false image to stupid people.
Most patriotic, conservative people I know are perfectly comfortable with the idea of "separation of church and state" -- mainly because we want the state to stay the hell out of our churches.
Adams is a corrupt, racist scumbag, out for NYC parties and he could give a flying rat’s rearend about crime. He’s typical demonKKKrat, dogshit filth. NYC deserves what they voted for. No sympathy.
LOL. The lines between televangelist/politician/grifter can get blurred, particularly in the black community. Remember Al Sharpton?
Stopped reading after the 1st sentence.
Al Sharpton, unfortunately, is still a player in the professional-agitator-for-profit game. Still owes MILLIONS in unpaid taxes, yet is free to flounce about decrying how everything is racist, prejudiced against POC, etc. Adams is just another version. He wasted millions of dollars the city claimed it didn't have building luxurious housing, complete with wifi and xbox, for illegal criminal invaders, and continues to put them up in hotels at hundreds of dollars a night for each room. He's just an updated Sharpton with a thin--very thin--veneer of "I care about NYC". No you don't, you fake.
BINGO!
You’ve got that right! Very few see it.
Should’ve been a barf alert on this one…
Does anyone born after 1970 even know what ‘Separation of Church and State’ means?
In one of the elections some years back our polling place was held at a church right down the street. While waiting in line I overheard someone say that they shouldn’t allow voting in churches because we’re supposed to have ‘Separation of Church and State’. Yes, some people are that stupid.
So Eric Adams is signaling that he will run for President?
