Russian Oil Exports Prove Resilient to Full Force of Western Bans

Russia’s seaborne oil exports remained resilient in February, as the nation found new buyers even as the full force of Western restrictions was brought to bear.

Oil-market watchers are closely following Russian export data for signs of disruptions after the European Union and the majority of Group of Seven nations banned most seaborne imports of oil and fuel in condemnation of the invasion in Ukraine. Aided by ‘shadow fleet’ of tankers, Russian producers have turned to buyers in the Gulf, Latin America and Asia, ship-tracking data shows.

Today, I’m authorizing additional strong sanctions and new limitations on what can be exported to Russia.

This is going to impose severe costs on the Russian economy, both immediately and over time.

Oil exports will always be resilient when there is a demand for oil.

If the lesson hasn’t been learned yet, take a moment and learn it now. Sanction do not prevent war. Sanctions don’t end wars. Sanctions tend to hurt average everyday Americans by increasing prices.

I heard that the Russian companies bought up 13% of the world’s tanker fleet over the last year, and that’s how estimates.
There are already troubles to find tankers for other routes and the freight between the US and Europe skyrocketed several times over.

Russia’s gas sales are taking a hit ... sales to Europe are down 90% since last year

and Russia doesn’t have other markets to make up for that

“unintended consequences’ of Vlady’s failed “1-month conquest”

Drill baby drill. It solves half the problems in the world.

Hate Russia? Then drill baby drill.
Don't like funding terrorism? Then drill baby drill.
Hate energy shortages? Then drill baby drill.
Hate it when countries that don't care about the environment do most of the oil production? Then drill baby drill.
Want the poor to afford heat in the winter? Then drill baby drill.

While you're at it, drill not just for oil and natural gas, but mine baby mine for coal and rare-earths.

India buts cut rate Russian oil, refines it into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel and then sells it at market value to hypocritical Europeans. Of course Europeans won’t import Russian oil or build their own refineries.

“Russian Oil Exports Prove Resilient to Full Force of Western Bans”

Oh, bummer. I thought Russian oil exports could only go to Europe. Silly me, I never thought that they could send the oil elsewhere.

Darnit, that Putin guy is CLEVER!!!!

What don’t you understand about the word ‘resilient’? What don’t you understand about increasing prices for average American? Go sell your eff’n zero national interest proxy war that benefits only the military industrial complex someplace else.

Sanctions tend to hurt average everyday Americans by increasing prices.

The “sanctions” have been a boon to the Russian economy. In 2022 the Russians received on average $10 Billion a month more for their energy exports than they did in 2021. This trend has not changed as we enter 2023.

Our cadre of couch potato warriors tend to call me nasty names every time I have mentioned this “inconvenient truth”. The Russians do not care how long this conflict goes on because it is lining their pockets. Russian oligarchs do not have to worry much about “public opinion”.

the sanctions aren’t causing inflation, that’s Biden’s policies

the sanctions could be removed tomorrow and there would be no effect on US inflation

what can’t you understand about that?

Nikkei Asia claimed that secret shipments of Russian oil were reaching Europe despite Western sanctions on Moscow over its war in Ukraine right from the beginning until now....

Oil-market watchers are closely following Russian export data

Which is the basic problem. One is relying on the Russian government to provide accurate data. Good luck
