Hungary’s Viktor Orbán plays spoilsport on NATO accession for Finland, Sweden

Hungary’s reputation as the troublemaker of Europe will be burnished on Wednesday as its parliament begins debating a contentious issue: whether to give Finland and Sweden the green light to join NATO.

Along with Turkey, Hungary has yet to ratify the applications of Finland and Sweden to join the transatlantic defense alliance more than eight months after NATO leaders signed off on their membership bid at a summit in Madrid.

Máté Kocsis, head of Orbán’s nationalist Fidesz party caucus in parliament, said last week that a “serious debate” had now emerged over the accession of the two countries. Hungary now plans to send a delegation to Sweden and Finland to examine “political disputes” that have arisen.

Orbán himself echoed such views...

Oh, I’d never accuse the nuclear war spambot of being simple minded, as that would imply it possessed a brain in the first place.

A key tenet of NATO is Article % - Collective defence - Article 5

An attack on one is considered an attack on all - and all should respond. Since NATO formed in 1949, incredibly this has only been invoked once - and that was to support the US following the 9/11 attacks.

In addition, NATO buys a lot of American weaponry and surplus weaponry, helping the USA keep on the cutting edge of military tech.

They should get the same rules that were used for Q people. If one group was forced to do it, the same rules should apply. They should have to post their propaganda and war cheer leading on one separate thread and keep it out of every other thread because they are disruptive and rude. Ukraine is not America and it is not American. There is no valid reason that we should have this Biden regime nonsense shoved at us every day.

By the way, nice post.

"Right, so if we didn't send the 100 billion(mostly weapons) to Ukraine, Biden was going to use that money to secure our borders. Really?"

I get it. You don't care about securing American borders.

No, I'm a realist. Biden was not securing our borders before the Ukrainian invasion by Putin, so its delusional to think that if we had not sent the 100 billion to Ukraine last year, Biden would have spent it instead securing our border. US spent 6.6 trillion last year, lack of money was NOT why Biden didn't control our border.

Thank you for once again demonstrating why NATO must be disbanded for the good of humanity and world peace.

Wildo - let's look over my post #8 that you referred to
Russia only attacks its neighbors that are NOT part of NATO - that is why it attacked Georgia in 2008 and Ukraine in 2014 and keeps Central Asian states in line but it doesn't dare to even threaten Estonia or Latvia

If Russia was not a bully there would be no need for a NATO
So it seems you agree that Russia is a bully that is scared of the NATO alliance as it prevents Russia bullying smaller countries

In the case of Sweden and Finland, both of them already spend a lot on their military and that’s only going to increase thanks to Putin.

In addition, Finland has conscription so can field 1.5 million trained soldiers - out of these 300,000 are part of the standing military.

Sweden manufactures its own weaponry and has a strategic location in the gulf of Bothnia.

Neither is looking to the USA to save them, rather that by being part of NATO, the chances of Russia attacking them are lowered

Comrade Ivan, you’re getting angry. I think you are afraid of the alliance to protect countries from you Russians, right?

I don’t have any concerns with Sweden or Finland in particular, it’s the overarching problem of the US being the worlds policemen and overwhelmingly footing the bill - largely for the benefit of other countries

I found out why they’re allowed to spam and attack here without punishment, while those who reply to them are often finding their posts removed. One of the bots openly confirmed they “tip liberally” to the website, and if they were to be banned, the contributions would disappear. This is very disturbing.

Then management wonders why donations are down.

Maybe because American FReepers don't come here to watch Eurotrash harpie bags of TRASH ruin the place?

Like I said, you don’t care about our borders. If a civil war thousands of miles away concerns you so, stop posting, pack a suitcase, buy your plane ticket and fly to the Ukraine and sign up with the army. The fact none of your ilk will do that speaks volumes, but you don’t hesitate to volunteer our money (ignoring we’re tens of trillions of dollars in debt), our weapons and our military to fight in a civil war the majority of Americans don’t support.

The Finns have enjoyed almost a century of demilitarized peace and prosperity with Russia on its border...they don’t need NATO and joining will abrogate a 1948 treaty that ended the last war with USSR.

With NATO Finland will become militarized and the good relations with Russia poisoned...all for the benefit of some genocidal Anglo war-mongers and their corporate war-machine

Wow, so you don't like the fact that the rest of NATO came to the USA's side when it invoked Article 5?
