Oregon Considers Bill That Would Give Homeless People $1,000 a Month – No Strings Attached

Lawmakers in the state of Oregon are considering a bill that would provide homeless people with $1,000 a month with no strings attached.

Is there any wonder why so many people in Oregon are trying to secede to the state of Idaho?

If Oregon wants to become the homeless capital of the country, this is an excellent way to do it.

FOX News reports:

Oregon bill would pay homeless people $1,000 a month

The state of Oregon is weighing a bill to give homeless and low-income people $1,000 a month in universal basic income.

The Oregon legislature is considering a bill to establish a People’s Housing Assistance Fund Demonstration Program through the state’s Department of Human Services.

Oregon’s bill is the latest in blue states looking to give handouts to people in universal basic income (UBI) programs.

According to Bill Track 50, the legislation would “provide 12 monthly payments of $1,000 to individuals who are experiencing homelessness, are at risk of homelessness, are severely rent burdened or earn at or below 60 percent of area median income.”

The bill would require a study on who is receiving the money broken down among a few demographics, including race, veteran status and risk of domestic violence.

Additionally, the bill sunsets in January 2026.

The $1,000 payments can be used at recipients’ discretion, but supporters say it will be used toward rent and other living expenses.

Why don’t they just take everyone’s hard earned money from the real working people of Oregon and give it to the low life’s.
Geezzz, when are those people going to snap?

Can I “Self Identify” as a Oregon Homeless Person?

Outright cash giveaways, providing housing, etc. simply does not work. A lot of the homeless element would spend the money on drugs and those that get put into free housing simply don’t want/can’t follow the rules that inevitably come with the ‘freebie.’

This has been done before and it does not work, period.

I hope this passes, and I hope that every single homeless person in the country moves to Oregon.

The homeless would still be on the street, because they would use it all for drugs, which was the original reason they were homeless.

Better would be to take an old Army base, let them live there, provide with food, prohibit drugs, and make them dry out.

That’s how you clean them off the streets.

Opioid and alcohol poisoning deaths skyrocket.

The headline says "No strings attached" however I count at least 4.

The concept could make broader sense.

How about giving every American enough money to have a minimal set of necessities. At the same time take away all welfare and other assistance programs. This scheme might be cheaper than our current system of selective, expensively administered handouts.

And that $1000 would last about all of 6 minutes.

Rhetorical question but I understand if you don’t comment further...Why was she more your problem and not your brother’s?

Yeah, that’s the ticket. Pass the Jack Daniels and Fentanyl.

Incentivizing homelessness is why there are so many, and how liberals created the problem and are making it worse. They’re subsidizing human suffering and feel good about it.
