Russians Tighten Noose on Ukraine's Bakhmut, Situation 'Extremely Tense'

Russian forces on Tuesday pressed forward their weeks-long drive to encircle and capture the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut where the commander of Ukraine's ground forces described the situation as "extremely tense."

The Russian troops, including mercenary fighters from the Wagner Group, are trying to cut the Ukrainian defenders' supply lines to the city, scene of some of the war's bloodiest battles, and force them to surrender or withdraw.

That would give Russia its first major prize in more than half a year and open the way to the capture of the last remaining urban centers in the Donetsk region, one of four which Moscow claims to have annexed in what it calls its "special military operation" in Ukraine.

I am starting to wonder if the UKES are baiting the Russians in here. They keep saying they are barely hanging on, the Russians are almost there, they don’t have reserve lines, they are out of equipment and people.....and yet the Russians keep bleeding.

I don’t trust the news on this stuff, especially the US news which is clearly biased and controlled by the Government (see twitter files).

It’s taken the Russians 6 months to nearly encircle Bakhmut. And they ain’t done it yet.

So much for the vaunted “2nd strongest military in the world”

More like the 20th...

Someone should send Ukraine a French surrender flag, sue for peace.
“Gdamn America,” prolonging the killing fields.

Yeah because the last time they tried to trade land for peace with a dictator in Europe, it worked out great! 🙄

Their idea is not to take territory, but to grind down and deplete the other side of troops and weaponry.

War of attrition.

That’s why any talk about Russia moving through Ukraine and into Europe in an attempt to reconstitute the former USSR is hysterical jabber.

Time for the Ukes to hit Crimea bridges and rail lines with all their Himar missiles and anything else they have. Shift Russia’s attention to saving Crimea and away from this battle.

Imagine what could be hidden in the salt and gypsum mines of Bakhmut.

Most all of what Ukraine has is natural resources and raw materials.

Civilization, not so much.

Guess what the war is about.

Someone should send Ukraine a French surrender flag, sue for peace.

A good read from Adam Something@AdamSomething

A quick explainer on why the "pro-peace" position in the Russo-Ukrainian war is actually a pro-Russian, pro-war position:

Russia is a dying empire, hell-bent on regaining its former glory. For this, they have to reconquer their former subjects, but they can only do so if those countries don't join the EU or NATO.

How does Russia prevent that? With fake "people's republics" and frozen conflicts. NATO or the EU won't take you in if you have territories not under your control. In Moldova, we have Transnistria: a Russian-controlled fake republic blocking Moldova from joining the EU or NATO.

In Georgia, we have Abkhazia and South Ossetia: Russian-controlled fake republics blocking Georgia from joining the EU or NATO.

In Ukraine, we had Donetsk and Luhansk: Russian-controlled fake republics blocking Ukraine from joining the EU or NATO. Plus the annexation of Crimea of course.

European countries that joined the EU or NATO enjoy an unprecedented era of peace. European countries that didn't join the EU or NATO have been invaded by Russia. The EU and NATO are the only hard guarantees of peace on the European continent.

If Ukraine makes peace with Russia now, we'll just have another frozen conflict, which means Ukraine won't be a part of EU or NATO, which means no guarantee for peace, which means Russia will invade them again. The alternative to peace via EU soft power or NATO hard power is an agreement with Russia. Based on how they broke every single agreements with Ukraine so far, we can safely disregard that option.

Therefore, a peace agreement with Russia now that ends with a frozen conflict and territorial disputes will invariably lead to war again.

This is how the "pro-peace" position is actually pro-Russian and pro-war.

And the response will be massive missile attacks on Kiev, or some other city, with fuel air ordinance tipped missiles.

A few of them will kill about 100 to 200 thousand people.

That what you want?

The Russian as slow but they are winning. Steady had a quality of its own. What is really happening, we will not know for years after the peace treaty is signed. All we get in the USA is Ukrainian Propaganda now. It has served Zeleksky well and made him a rich man—but he may be rich but if he loses he knows that Putin will make him dead, even if he goes to the most remote part of the planet. Just ask Trotsky—but you will need a Ouija Board.

Won’t happen because Kiev would find a way to hit Moscow.
