Scott Adams is a clever guy. Wanna bet he weighed the financial metrics on his decision to tell the truth?

There is zero doubt he knew how it would play out financially for him. Just yesterday he said his income from Dilbert is going to be zero in a few days.

It almost sounds like he did an intentional Farewell to Dilbert.

It’s too bad because his is one of the few remaining decent comic strips.

Scott was a PacBell employee in the late 80s. IT department. I was as well. His cartoons first appeared inside the company and often lampooned internal managers. We all laughed. We knew who was the subject of the cartoon. It worked so well that he retained the meme and took it public. I was at UseNIX when he wandered through the area where I was standing. A bunch of people got on their knees and started chanting "We're not worthy". I knew of his work, but had never encountered him in person. It was a pretty funny scene. Eventually the company management had a "come to Jesus" meeting with Scott. He would have to decide whether his career would be in PacBell IT or doing cartoons. The rest is history. Scott chose wisely.
