‘Decline Is A Choice’: DeSantis Releases New Ad Rallying Conservatives To Fight For Freedom
Daily Wire ^ | 26 Feb 23 | Daily Wire

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis released a new digital ad Sunday night rallying conservatives to fight for freedom ahead of a potential 2024 presidential run.

“When the world lost its mind… when common sense suddenly became an uncommon virtue… Florida was a refuge of sanity, a citadel of freedom for our fellow Americans and even for people around the world,” DeSantis said in the nearly two-minute video.

The ad features numerous major figures at Fox News — including Laura Ingraham, Jesse Watters, Dana Perino, and Lisa Boothe — touting DeSantis’ repeated successes while serving as the governor of Florida.

“Florida’s success has been made more difficult by the floundering federal establishment in Washington, DC., an inflationary spending binge that has left our nation weaker and our citizens poorer,” DeSantis says later in the video. “It has enacted pandemic restrictions and mandates. It has recklessly facilitated open borders. It has imposed an energy policy that has crippled our nation’s domestic production. This has caused many to be pessimistic about the country’s future. Some even say that failure is inevitable. Florida is proof positive that we the people are not destined for failure.”

DeSantis continues by highlighting the wins that his administration has secured in the state, including becoming the fastest growing state in the country, ranking #1 in education freedom, ranking #1 in economic freedom, and ranking #1 in higher public education.

“Decline is a choice. Success is attainable,” DeSantis concludes. “And freedom is worth fighting for.”

You forget. Trump needed the military spending at the time. He was very vocal about how damaging the bill was & how unnecessary much of the spending was. Trump did his best to refuse to actually authorize much of the unnecessary spending. How easy it is to construct a narrative by ignoring pesky facts and using the broad brush.

Nice try at spin, but Trump's $2.2 TRILLION Covid relief bill had nothing to do with military spending.

I swear. We can't have anything about DeSantis on here without all of his foul supporters stirring up things about Trump. Just vote for whoever you want. I'll stick with Trump. thanks

That he did. Fortunately, he was one of the first ones to come to his senses and remove them. Compare him to Maryland's former governor, Hogan, who actually reimposed a mask mandate in government buildings in November 2021.

I like my governor, but Trump will be a better choice for 2024. DeSantis should stay down here and continue making Florida better. JMO.

It's interesting that most of the responses to my original post didn't even address the point I made.

I never criticized DeSantis for imposing any lockdowns or mandates -- at least not on this thread (yet). I'll get around to that shortly.

What I DID do was point out the absurdity of having DeSantis criticize the Federal government for imposing lockdowns/mandates that he himself imposed in Florida. This is the kind of crap I would expect from a greasy, dishonest career politician -- which explains why there's no seat for me on the Ron DeSantis bandwagon.

And in response to that, you all came on here and fell all over yourselves making excuses for what DeSantis did.

He was one of the first to realize the official directives were wrong and changed course.

You mean HIS directives?

Why did he implement them in the first place?

... the PRESIDENT SHUT DOWN THE WHOLE COUNTRY!!

No, he didn't. The President of the United States has no authority to "shut down the whole country."

Thanks for playing. Better luck next time.

I’m no newbie—been reading for over 20 years, posting for 2. I have numerous posts about RDS on a couple of threads here in the past day or two.

"...absurdity..."

By your definition of absurdity, The Don can't legitimately talk about being Republican since he once was Democrat.

Besides me and Jesus, nobody is perfect on politics.

We are proud of Ron's quick awakening to the truth of the covide matter.

We are concerned The Don's never going to wake up.

There was no real harm in treating this like a pandemic at the start.

Except that's not what happened. The lockdowns and restrictions imposed from the start were ludicrous on their face to anyone with half a brain and an ounce of common sense. Some of us knew from Day 1 that these measures reflected abject idiocy on the part of those who imposed them by executive fiat -- and that would include the Florida lockdowns/restrictions, too.

- Closing open-air spaces like state parks and beaches while telling people to stay in their homes -- but not necessarily all the time -- makes no sense in a pandemic.

- Shutting down clothing stores (for example) while allowing people to buy clothing at Walmart makes no sense under any circumstances. In fact, from the standpoint of the clothing store owner it's an 'effing outrage that this was ever allowed to happen.

- Shutting down churches while allowing liquor stores to stay open is something I'd expect from Satanic Nazis.

- How many thousands -- if not millions -- of Americans were forbidden from having funeral services for their deceased loved ones during that "pandemic" ... while George Floyd's family had THREE funerals for that wretched loser.

I could go on for hours with this -- but you get the point.

He performed better in the covid BS than any governor in the nation.

Uh, no.

Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota was the only governor who refused to impose any lockdowns for the entire duration of the COVID-19 hysteria. That's 1 out of 50.

Thanks for playing. Better luck next time.

The Don can't legitimately talk about being Republican since he once was Democrat.

What makes that interesting is that I voted for him because he's NOT a Republican. He's basically an independent who hijacked the Republican nomination process in 2016 to get elected President.

"...I could go on..."

One of my faves... stores open with high tech virus-vexing one-way aisles where you could only buy essential things... but not the things right next to them.

Science is an idiot!

And Trump delivered the Florida Governorship to DeSantis in 2018 that Ron was losing. Without Trump there would be no Ron DeSantis. BTW: I’m no apologist, I’m a realist. RDS is bought and paid for by the people that got us into this current mess.
