I have grown to detest the United Way. When I was in the Navy, they made paycheck donations mandatory. Now, I would tell them to pound sand, but back then, I went along with it.

United Way lost my donations probably 20 years ago.
Used to be mandatory at BellSouth where I worked at the time.
Then due to precipitously dropping donations and employee grumbling, they shifted policy enable you to designate charities.
It was a good deal until they dropped the employer matching dollars so I just cut mine to zero and gave it privately and through the church.

I’ve only found a handful of those who don’t belong to that party. They are actually a breath of fresh air to be around if you can find one.
