As temperatures across the country soar and unseasonably warm days continue, the number of gun deaths across the country has gone up.
Nearly 8,000 gun shootings can be attributed to extreme temperatures, according to research published by JAMA Network.
The study analyzed 100 major U.S. cities with the highest proportion of gun violence between 2015 and 2020. It found that out of 116 ,511 shootings, roughly 6.85% (or 7,973) were attributable to above-average temperatures.
Gun violence, as well as other types of violence, such as road rage, is known to worsen in the summer. Warmer temperatures increase the body’s stress hormones in the nervous system, which may heighten violent impulses.
People also spend more time outdoors when the weather is warm, which makes encounters with others — and the potential for lethal clashes — more likely.
Why extreme heat’s impact on gun violence is

I think all these shootings are caused by all the elecrticity generated in the air by Electric Vehicles....
BAN EV’s!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so stupid. I read this study.
Something else to keep in mind....nothing proposed about fighting man-made climate change will eliminate hot days.
wow what crap. If above average temps have anything to do with it, its because Chicago gangs and druggies don’t like to go outside shooting in the the cold. The real cause of most gun crime is almost always gangs and drugs. People don’t kill because of poverty. They kill to get more drugs. They kill because someone stole their drugs in a drug deal or some other gang is selling on their block. Gun crime and gang crime and drug crime are the most correlated.
Yep, climate change.
“8,000 shootings can be attributed to extreme temperatures “? WTF? So is it guns or climate change? How easily they make the cause and effect link when it serves their narrative. Post hoc logic is a fallacy.
Well, shootings do increase in the hood during summertime, but I dont think that is what this chud is talking about.
The unwillingness of blue city DA’s to prosecute violent crime has nothing to do with the increase in violent crime.
What CAN’T climate change do? It’s like a miracle or something. 😵💫🐂💩
And over a hundred and twenty years ago it was the Full Moon that caused an uptick in crimes and murders.
Hence the word “Loony” from Luna. In ancient Roman religion and myth, Luna is the divine embodiment of the Moon.
Not a new idea. Read the short stories “Touched with Fire” by Ray Bradbury, or “August Heat” by W. F. Harvey.
This just in. It turns out that the study confused above-average temperatures with below-average IQs and low impulse control among the murderous.
And the same people aren’t concerned about the drug overdoses, the effectively suicide as well.
Never heard of her, and if this middle school drivel is the best she can do she deserves never to be heard of.
When gun deaths are higher than drug deaths, we may discuss it.
One of the theories about why violent crime went way down after the 70s is the rise of climate control. Another theory is the rise of our screen culture. If people are comfortable and entertained inside, the less reason to go out in the streets.
