The coming earthquake is deadly climate change
New York Daily News ^ | February 26, 2023 | By Ibrahim Özdemir

This month, my home country — Turkey — and our neighbor — Syria — were struck by apocalyptic earthquakes. A monumental disaster which has so far killed more than 50,000, injured and traumatized tens of thousands more, and displaced almost six million

But what is occurring in Turkey and Syria is only a glimpse of what is to come. In the past decade, global migrant flows have doubled, and by 2050, up to a billion of our fellow human beings are at risk of displacement from the looming climate disaster.

You read that correctly: One billion.

While, yes, the initial impacts of climate change have fallen more severely on countries that are already more vulnerable due to poor governance, civil unrest, or other forms of instability and stress, climate change is so large a threat that it will eventually batter even the wealthiest and most prepared.

Without the protection of international law, climate refugees frequently get deported en masse. It’s as if we know a wave of earthquakes are coming, yet sit on the sidelines, waiting for the fault lines to erupt.

But I am hopeful that America, which has so often stood up in defense of a more stable, secure, and humanitarian world, will do the right thing.

President Biden has already shifted the American economy towards more sustainable and responsible directions. For instance, the Inflation Reduction Act will hopefully cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030. But it’s not just the political sphere which is waking up, civil society organizations are increasingly adapting to address climate concerns.

Looks like we will have to evacuate San Francisco now—don’t want to leave lives at risk.

“[A] billion human beings are at risk of displacement.”

Better start shooting them now.

Ah, the minimum daily required dose of climate fear porn.
Nope, not happening. Those of us who actually have real STEM backgrounds fart in the general direction of silly little journalist and government-sponsored “research” repeating previous claims that somehow have never come true.

People migrate because of corrupt government and sick culture. Global warming is a scam.

They are grasping at straws. We went from globull warming to climate change, and everyone sees what lies were spun.
The most gullible will believe it.
Gubmint wants to bleed us dry. The “inflation reduction act”?
LOL

Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornado’s, are all new to this earth due to climate change. They never happened until about 40 years ago. /s

I propose only one rule: They can’t come east. They can go south to Mexico, or north to Oregon, Washington, or the People’s Republic of Trudeau.

Last year, for example, 3.5 million Americans, or almost the population of Los Angeles, were displaced by floods, fires, hurricanes, and drought. Under half returned to their homes in a week, but almost half a million, or more than Staten Island, can’t go home. There may not even be a home to return to. The full costs spiraled well beyond $150 billion.

BS. Also, how is this a gov't policy problem? If you live in an area plagued by hurricanes, tornadoes, or mudslides and don't insure your property, that your responsibility, not mine. When I see gov't agencies like FEMA or gov't subsidized insurance, using my tax dollars to restore someone's multi-million dollar beach house, shouldn't I be able to live in one of those houses a week each year, rent free?

Gov't spending should be to: 1) provide social overhead capital deemed desirable by the public (e.g., public roads, infrastructure, a legal system), and 2) those public goods not provided by free markets (e.g., a standing military, fire departments, etc.). Gov't should not compete with the private sector like it does (banking, SBA, student loans, etc.) Politicians go too far because they want to buy votes. It's time to pull the reins in on gov't spending and make private citizens insure private property and assume some financial responsibility.

They are talking an indirect cause with the immediate cause being corrupt governments, so by what mechanism does climate change make these governments corrupt??? Haven’t they always been corrupt??

How is it quickening?

Really...I want to get there with these guys but their logic eludes me.

The earthquake in Turkey and Syria is a small one compared to what is to come. GOD has warned us they will intensify at the end and these leaders will definitely experience change.

Luke 21:11 - And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

The economic climate, all government made, in the world's hellholes is what drives migration.
Stop blaming the countries people are fleeing to.
Earthquakes are not driven by climate, whether you believe in AGW or not.

I didn’t realize that earthquakes and volcanos were a recent ‘thing’, caused by Man Made Climate Change. As a matter of fact, they were much more prevalent before man appeared, so maybe ‘man’ has mitigated climate change by his mere presence.
