February 26

Is It a Sign?

Bible in a Year:

I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.

Psalm 40:8

The offer looked good, and was exactly what Peter needed. After being laid off, this sole breadwinner of a young family had prayed desperately for a job. “Surely this is God’s answer to your prayers,” his friends suggested.

Reading about the prospective employer, however, Peter felt uneasy. The company invested in suspicious businesses and had been flagged for corruption. In the end, Peter rejected the offer, though it was painful to do so. “I believe God wants me to do the right thing,” he shared with me. “I just have to trust He will provide for me.”

Peter was reminded of the account of David meeting Saul in a cave. It seemed like he was being given the perfect opportunity to kill the man hunting him down, but David resisted. “The Lord forbid that I should do such a thing . . . for he is the anointed of the Lord,” he reasoned (1 Samuel 24:6). David was careful to distinguish between his own interpretation of events and God’s command to obey His instruction and do the right thing.

Instead of always trying to look for “signs” in certain situations, let’s look to God and His truth for wisdom and guidance to discern what lies before us. He will help us do what’s right in His eyes.

Reflect & Pray

What could help you discern between a personal interpretation of events and what God would want you to do? Whom can you turn to for godly advice?

God, our Provider, grant me the wisdom to discern opportunities before me and the faith to follow Your way, that I might always do what pleases You.

Howdy, Kathy.

If you hear racket this evening, it’s fireworks as part of the Fur Rondy festivities. I hope a cam op shows up at the Lake Hood cam so we can watch.

As cold as it is, there are still a good number of folks out and about. I don’t know that I’d want to ride the big ferris wheel over at the Saturday Market area. BRRRRRRRRRRRR

Did you have trouble getting to and from the office due to traffic?

Thankfully I am south of most of the masses for Rondy. I forgot it started yesterday. They should have had zero issues with trucking in the snow for 4th Avenue and the sled dog races. BUT...this sun, so welcome by so many is horrible for the dogs. Many a time I have stood over by the Tudor center to watch them come racing by. Tudor used to be a parking lot because the race folks would stop traffic, shovel a lot of snow on the pavement for the dogs to cross over. Then let traffice go until the next team was coming. Now they are routed on the bike path that goes OVER the road.

Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Is it still raining? Causing you any issues? It was pea soup fog this morning, but started lifting mid-morning, and now bright sun.

When I was not so old, and could still walk with ease, Rondy was the best event of the year. Lots of things to see and do downtown, and multiple places close to home to watch the dog races (more that once in sub-zero temps). Many, many hours of fun times when Ashlie was little.

Good Evening, Mayor,

Life is full of challenges, full of decisions that have to be made, but as you so rightly point out, we’ve been provided with a manual, a guide, a map. “A righteous man, though his path be dark and twisted, will always find the proper way.”

Why so? Because to be RIGHTEOUS one must follow the Laws of G-D, Who is never a deceiver, but always faithful, and will guide us to the proper way. All we need do, is follow His ways. He keeps nothing secret from us.

It’s good things you point out to us.

Thank You.

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine
feel alone or forgotten.

O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is loving kindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Psalm 130:7 & 8

Good to hear you didn’t have much of the traffic mess to deal with. I hadn’t seen a map of the route they’re taking. I see they do cross Tudor. Is it the foot bridge they use to cross over the road?

Yes, it’s still wet here and will be for a while. It rained harder today than it did yesterday but not hard enough to cause problems. It just keeps everyone from doing things outside. It was dark due to the clouds being so thick.

The fog sure WAS thick up there this morning. It rolled in and out most of the night and was still foggy when I first checked the cam when I woke up. A few minutes later, it was gone. It was neat watching it roll out on the cam as it panned back and forth.

It sure is gorgeous up there now but I hear that along with the wonderful sunshine, your temps are going to bottom out. BRRRRRR

Seeing things set up around town on the city cams, it looks like they really do it up for Fur Rondy. It looks like a lot of fun, other than they do this when it’s FREEZING. LOL

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Say Hey, K,

As you see, I no longer have a need for caps to know what I’m doing at the keyboard (although some added grey matter would help more than just a bit). Had the 9th and 10th ops on my eyes Wednesday and Thursday, and although they’re dry and a bit irritated, everything seems really all right now. As a strange side effect, I can now see around corners.

AND I CAN GO DEER HUNTING AGAIN!!!

I had to stop doing that ‘cause I got so embarrassed about all the cows I tagged and brought in.

SHAVUAH TOV!

And, as always, G-D BLESS, for all that YOU, and the CANTEEN CREW, do.

May You All Be Well!

Yes...foot traffic...and the bike path. Signals on Tudor are few and far between. The bridge provides a safe crossing place.
